But be careful when you eat that much--there's trans fats hidden in that fat-free cool whip!

Ooooo Jilly, is it one of those situations that just skirts the issue? I saw a report recently saying if there is less than 1 gram (or whatever) per serving, it can call itself 0 fat. But, of course, if you eat more than that one serving (and who wouldn't?), you're piling on the fat (or calories or sugar or whatever).

((sigh)) Isn't this journey challenging enough on its own? Do they really have to plant so many hidden hazards?

haha, yup. The legal rule is that if there's less than .5g of trans fats per serving, they can say 0 on the label. That means there could be up to .49g per serving, and they don't have to tell you. Multiply that by how many servings you actually have (I know I never use just 2 tablespoons!), and see the craziness that ensues

Great catch on the trans fat issue.

Wouldn't the calories in a cup depend on how densely it's packed with something like cool whip? Weighing it might be more accurate...

Oh how disappointing to hear that. I think some of the wind just got taken out of my sails. I guess though I can't stress over the fat too much as I mostly had the fat free stuff because it was lower in calories. I will be more careful in tallying it from now on though.
