Default Avoided sabbatoge at work this weekend...

Everyone clap for me now...K? LOL Ok..I worked all weekend and I endured the biggest weekend feast ever!!!! Friday night it was popcorn, cookies, and left over valentines candy. Saturday night everyone got pepperoni pizza and these wonderfully sinful pizza fries/garlic bread things...ohh then the morning nurses brought in over sized cinnamon rolls dripping with frosting. Then lastnight...they hadn't had enough of the pizza the night before...so they do a repeat order of the pizza and pizza fries. Ohhhh...don't forget the day nurses that brought in lemon poppy seed muffins and cream filled long johns bathing in chocolate frosting.

My gosh..are they trying to kill me!!!!!!!!!! I respectfully declined ALL offers and did not eat one morsel of their treats..are ya proud!!!! Friday night I had a yogurt, sat. night a manderin orange cup, and lastnight a 100 calorie pack. Gosh....that food though..especially the pizza...it just gets my salivary glands going if you know what i mean..lol. It's so frustrating too cause' all the people eating the treats were skinny as rails and they chalk it up to "having good metabolism"... I just quietly thought to myself that maybe their metabolism's won't always be this good and the donuts and pizza will land on their back sides some day...lol...kind of mean but it helped me not to feel so bad about things. Ok...I'm outie..
Luv,
Liv

Liv -- that's amazing. I do okay saying no to things that "flit by", but boy is it tough when you're around it for hours! Sounds like you have your head in the right place, though... that's an important part of this process. congrats!

I am truly amazed at how much food can be consumed by a nursing staff...when I was a nurse I would be offended when administration brought donuts or something after a rough night...we didn't need calories...we needed better staffing! Why does everyone want to feed nurses??

Good for you for resisting.

Excellent job Liv! It's so hard when there's so much temptation around every corner. Good for you for sticking with your plan. Doesn't it feel great to come here and post about winning the battle?

That sounds like one tough weekend. Good for you for being good to yourself. Sure it would have tasted good at the moment but you would have been so mad at yourself for eating it afterwords. Good Job!

Yep...midwife..I agree....there does seem to be a correlation between nursing and FOOD..doesn't there? Anyways....I do feel great for resisting like I said...I came home every morning, ate a healthy breakfast, and worked out....I'm a Rock Star LOL...thanx again all

Liv

Hmmm when you think about it, nursing is a synonym for breastfeeding and, well, isn't that the original food? Definitely a link!

Good for you, Liv, for keeping control of your situation. It could easily have gotten way out of hand! Ya done good!

What gets me is, if you're in a hospital setting, I'd think they would be more concerned about bringing in a mix of treats. I'm not saying No no no to pizza and cinnamon buns (they have their place), just mix it up with some veggie plates or something. I mean, even for those blessed with a speedy metabolism, what about all those other important indicators?

Except that breastfeeding is healthy and does not contribute to obesity. I think a lot of it has to do with the demographics of nurses. Most (in the US) are white women in their 40s...what percentage of that demographic is obese I wonder. Hmmmm....Comfort, meeting needs, soft squishy bosoms upon which to rest a weary sick head...
