Default 300+ And Ready To Try Again...#854

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due

The thing that has saved me from traffic has been books on tape. I don't know what I would do without them.

Jill - Areas around cities are the worst. We pay a LOT of rent too. I would buy something, but I don't want to stay in this area forever - I don't like it here very much. I want to live somewhere warm. I loved living in Atlanta, but Austin, San Diego or Phoenix sound good too. Also defintiely somewhere with a lower cost of living!

Tashabella - We will be in Chevy Chase, right outside of Bethesda. My BF's parents live really close to the giant Mormon church right off of 495 (if you know that area). I am totally excited about the weather. Short sleeves!

Ammi - What movie are you going to see? I want to see that new one with Johnny Depp - The Libertine, but probably not this weekend.

I am supposed to be finishing my month end report, but I am distracted by a co-workers behavior and needed a little break. Nothing personal to me - it is just really hard to see someone self destruct. OK. Back to work.

Dogpal - Last night, I tried just that...saying thank you. Andrew goes, "you look so darn cute tonight!", and I stumbled, said Thank You, and he was shocked. He goes, "what did you say?!?!"...LOL...one step at a time! Congrats on getting such a good deal! I just wish we had more room in our house for more gym equipment. We have our treadmill upstairs, and we have a Nordic Trak in the basement (which I just CANT DO), lol, and an AbDoer in the basement. I want so much exercise stuff! Congrats on doing a full minute TWICE. I tried them in Meijer, and stopped after about 30 seconds!

Jill - Haha, yeah, I do that, too...if someone says, 'you're smart' or something, I just say, whatever! When do you start your new job???

Crock - We both made it through this dreadful week! Even though I'm at the computer lab right now, I have NO CLASSES until the 21st, I believe!!! Good luck on your weigh in, and ENJOY your weekend!!!

Lilion - To become a lawyer now, you have to have PRE CALCULUS! Just another reason, I'm not going to become a lawyer! LOL! You've done so well, and I'm thinking that by the time I hit the -60 or so mark, MAYBE I'll feel better about myself...maybe when those 20's fit COMFORTABLY.

Ammi - I've noticed that it's slowed down, too...I hope everyone's still on track! Enjoy your day tomorrow!!!!

Nancy - Enjoy your trip!! And good luck with the traffic!

Well, I decided to just go ahead and weigh in this morning, since I dont' know when I'll be able to make it to a scale this weekend...and it showed me being 3 more pounds down. And that's in only 5 days! I must have definately been retaining some water from TOM, which STILL isn't completely gone! I tried on my pants...the 20's that I wanna be able to wear to the concert last night...they fit tight, but I can MOVE. If I can get a little more weight off, I should be able to wear them. Down in the computer lab, about to get down to some work that needs to be done. Spring Break is next week, but I know I'll be here a lot of the time...wanna get my Spreadsheets DONE with. But I should have the lab to myself, like today, cuz no one's crazy like me!

Good Lord! I'd have NEVER made it to law school! WTH do you need pre-calculus for? I didn't do any math on the bar exam!

Clearly this is an evil plot by paralegals to make their jobs easier! LOL!

(The really sad thing is I now do a LOT of math in my state job... )

LOL!!!! Well, I'm becoming one of the evil paralegals! It seems that to get pretty much ANY Bachelor's Degree and above, you have to have Pre-Calculus...heck, even most of the ASSOCIATE's degrees do! I only needed to do Basic Math, for that I was very grateful!

Well, I pretty much did one class worth of work today...slacked off until the end, and made it with half an hour to spare till the deadline! My friend is supposed to be stopping by and picking me up at the school, and we are going to go to Walmart...haven't seen her in a while.

I have never liked math. When I was a little girl and the teacher would make us go up in front of the class and work the problem on the board, it freaked me out so bad. I finally developed a fake allergy to chalk to prevent having to work problems on the board.

Have you all been overweight your whole life?? I remember in elementary school we would have one day a year when we would have to go to the nurse and get weighed and measured. I would always be so embarresed, one year I made my Mom write a note and another year, I told my Mom I was sick.

I just realized...I told LIES!!! As an adult I wouldn't dream about telling lies about things, I just deal with them, I guess as a child you don't know how to handle certain situations. Its funny to look back and remember those things.

OK, so I'm, like, 4 threads behind, and just kind skimming to catch up...

Honiangel, We were talking about flexibility earlier & young rubber Kayley was saying that she could sit on the floor & touch her head to her feet. I'm old enough to be getting more brittle, so I was giving her a hard time about it.... I'm still trying tho - I got a lot closer the other day!

Zelma, The broc salad is mostly chopped fresh brocolli, with a bit of shredded carrot, a few sunflower seeds, a small amount of small bacon pieces, a few raisens (white or regular) and a little coleslaw type of dressing. Depending on where I buy it, it might have small amounts of chopped red cabbage, tiny bits of sweet onion, or a bit of shredded cheese. I don't care much for dressing, so when they made this last batch just for me and left the raisens out & went light on the dressing, I was in heaven! *** BTW I love it when you 'babble about your class'!

JILLY!!! WA-HOO & a WHOOP WHOOP!! On the new job! Gosh, that has to feel GREAT!!! Congrats!

WELCOME VIOLET!!

Hey! Countess! Unfair!! I can't get the beach puppies video to show, but maybe it's my slow internet connection. So wonderful that you rescued those babies!

DOGPAL! WAAAAAY cool on the great deal on teh eliptical, and G4U on getting started on it!! I haven't had the chance to try one yet, but it sounds like they're an incredible cardio workout - takes some time to work up to long periods, but really gets you in shape!

Greetings & hugs to my many friends I've missed this post!

I'm sitting here in Mississippi feeling sorry for myself cuz I'm not home and whatever. Kayley, was that you with the 4 year old "I wanna go home" whine? Can I borrow that? Anyway, anybody with a boot, feel free to take aim on my backside and take a swing! Heck, make it two - it's good exercise! Perhaps... perhaps I can find local Curves still today, and keep up with my exercise at least. Sadly, I caved in to an ice cream sandwich today. It was already disappearing before I realized how awful I was being. Enjoyed the puppies in sun for a while at least. Can't watch them without Joy in my heart.

Perhaps I'll be able to keep up with you this weekend.... Best wishes to you all!

Tasha--we live in Alexandria, and this was one of the absolute cheapest 2-bedroom apartments we could find that would actually hold all our stuff (in an area where all of our stuff wouldn't get stolen!) Too many places have the one big room that is the living/dining area, but then we don't have anyplace to put our computer desks, since we'd like to use the 2nd bedroom as an actual guest room and not an office. We also live in Alexandria because Jeff works in MD just a little bit across the Wilson bridge, and I work out yonder in Chantilly (although my new job is in Falls Church--woohoo!), so it's the only logical midpoint for us. Going any farther out, we'd have even worse commutes to work than we already do. I did live alone in Manassas last year, and I had a very spacious 1-bedroom apartment for $870 a month (although by the time I moved out, if I were to have renewed, it would have been $920). Also, where I am now, electricity is included in the rent, so that is a big plus. We only pay water, which is less than 20 bucks a month

Thank you to everyone for the congrats on the new job! I got the FedEx package with the acceptance letter to sign and return to make it all official. I also have to go pee in a cup tomorrow for pre-employment drug testing--woohoo! Of course, the acceptance letter talks about their benefits, but then in the next paragraph, it says that the "offer of employment" is conditional upon "completion of a favorable 1-year trial period of employment." Does that mean I don't get my health insurance for a whole year I tried to call HR, but no one was there (nearly 5pm on a Friday, so that's understandable, but still frustrating).

Well, I am home and all packed for our weekend, but my BF isn’t home from work yet. So here I am!

Amber – I am glad you had a nice birthday. Congratulations on those measurements! I am looking forward to the day when my hips are under 60” and I can use regular measuring tapes.

Annie – That is such an amazing find! I am so glad you got the elliptical. It is NOT easy at all, but I can totally feel it strengthening my legs.

Kayley/Lillion – I am in accounting and I can’t imagine a need for any calculus (although I did take it). Algebra yes – that can definitely come in handy every now and again, but not calculus. I think unnecessary and mandatory curriculums are a form of torture. It is especially bad when you have to pay a lot of money to take the course!

Countess – I have been overweight all my life. I can remember being in either elementary or middle school and getting a caliper test – it was so embarrassing! High school was really tough too. We were supposed to be able to run a mile in 8 minutes, which between my weight and my smoking there was NO way I was going to be able to do. They still made me try, and it was just horrible.

Jill - A year defintiely seems too long to wait for benefits. I hope you can get that sorted out first thing on Monday.

Well – a pretty major NSV for me today. I climbed the stair to my apartment like a normal person - i.e. I didn’t just step up with my left foot, which I had to do before because of my right knee hurting. I made it all the way up without any knee pain! I was still out of breath – I am not expecting that to go away immediately, but I made it without pain!

Also, my co-worker and I were talking about exercise since she joined the gym I go to and is having her free personal trainer session tonight. She asked me how much weight had I lost – like 50 pounds? I told her only 30 and she said, “it looks like more” Very cool!

A little vent before I catch up....I called my friend Jessica, to see if she wanted to go take a walk with me or something today...she said that her and her boyfriend (the one that I hooked her up with) were going to go to Walmart. I hadn't seen her but ONCE since they started dating in November, so I asked if I could come along, so I could at least SEE her, and maybe talk a little bit. She said yeah, and that they'd meet me at the college. So, we're on our way to Walmart, and her boyfriend is being all distant and giving me an attitude...(some background...he was my boyfriend's best friend for years, and Andrew doesn't talk to him anymore, because he loaned Jonathan $60, and then when he asked for it back, Jonathan called Andrew a bit**, and threw the money at him, and when it fell back behind the couch, he told Andrew to go fetch it. This was after giving Jonathan several "second chances" every time he messed up), and finally I got tired of his attitude, since I was trying to be nice, and I called him on it...he told me that he hated me because I "flapped my lips" to Jessica's (my friend & his g/f) sister about his past...well, he wasn't man enough to admit it, and she and her family deserve to know just what kind of a person he is....(slept with underage girls, drugs, etc.). I told him that he did the action, so he needed to take responsibility, and then I think he threatened me, and I didn't hear him, so I asked him what he said, and he goes, "did I stutter"? and I tell him I can't understand him because he doesn't know how to speak right, and he shut up. Andrew treats Jessica just fine, and with NO attitude, and I am just SO FURIOUS RIGHT NOW! As it is, I never get to see Jessica, because he's CONSTANTLY with her, and I've hung out with her ONCE since November. And even then he made a big deal about it, because she put off their plans for a day to hang out with me. Whatever. I'm just so MAD right now, I can't even describe. Thanks for listening to my pointless rant....

Luan - Well, it wouldn't just be one math class, and that's the problem. I've only taken BASIC MATH, so I'd have to take Alg. 1, Alg. 2, Geometry 1 & 2, and THEN pre calculus! UGH!

Countess - I've been overweight my entire short life of 19 years...lol. I haven't been under 300 pounds since I was about 16 or 17, as sad as that is...

Nancy - Way to go!!!!!

Kayley- Sorry to hear that you are going through that with your friend. Just remember, even though her boyfriend may very well be a jerk and doesn't like her hanging out with you, she needs to take some responsibility too. She obviously hasn't stood up to him and said enough is enough, I want to see my friend. He seems controlling and I hope she can find it in herself to stand up for herself.

I was so tired today. I was up late last night on the phone and then up early this morning. I really didn't want to exercise but I told myself, the sooner I started, the sooner I got it done. So I exercised and I feel much better.

Hi all!

Still in NYC-- have the work gig tomorrow, but have spent time playing yesterday and today .. saw a GREAT show on Braodway last night----Dirty ROtten Scoundrels. It was SOOO freakishly hilarious. Had a great time. Walked all over Chinatown, Little Italy then in Central Park and Upper West Side. Gotta love New York!

Did the WI in THursday before leaving home...don't remember if I reported in. I was 2 down from the last WI (which officially was 2 weeks before that, so it mark my smallest 2 week loss BUT a week of that was in Disney World and away from my own kitchen so I'm pleased). 22.5 total down. Slow but steady, I guess

JILL.... our newly hired employees are also technically on a "probationary period" as well.... has nothing to do with benefits; just gives the employer the ability to not continue the contract if things aren't working out without having to worry about going through months of dismissal drama. I would bet my own benefits on the fact that you will get yours even in this probationary period. Bet that was exciting to get the paperwork... made it feel real I bet!

Kayley -- if you can't vent here, where CAN you vent? I hope you and your friends Jessica can have some time with just the two of you some time.

NotThe Cheat -- WTG on conquering the stairs!!!!

Everyone --- have a wonderful weekend.....

Tracey - Great for you for not giving in to the "lazies" !!! LOL!

Melanie - I don't really think it'll happen with Jessica...I just don't know. Enjoy the rest of your stay in New York!!!

Kayley - this is a great place to vent. I've been there with the girlfriend who forgets you exist when they are with certain guys. Just remember she is an adult and she is making this decision. I know it hurts but sometimes you just have to let people go for a while. Her BF sounds like a dirtbag for treating your BF like that, its a shame your friend got involved with him. They say love is blind. I just hope she sees the light before she wastes her life away with him and loses a great friend like you.
