Talking Weekly thread for 100+ to go #6

We are a group trying to lose 100+ pounds. So pull up a computer chair and join us on our journey!

Okay ladies! These weekly threads are really thin! But we aren't - so lets see some enthusiasm!

The weekend was okay for me...the nicest part of the weekend for me is sleeping late and having brunch instead of breakfast. I love that one, somewhat big meal in the morning (usually about 10 pts worth). Then I have tons of points left for dinner! That and trying new foods. We went to a mediterranean (sp) restaurant this Saturday. Discovered what a falafel is and had some awsome hummus and chicken shish kabob. All OP as it turns out!

What's the best part of the weekend for you all? Do you seem to slack off? Do you save your flex points for the weekend? Do you try something new? Let's hear how it goes for you when the 9 to 5 is done and the whole day is before you!

Come on everyone! Join in!

You don't have to stick with the topic...just give some news, tell us about your day, share your woes, vent - if need be!

And lets all have a happy, healthy OP week!

Weekends are usually my best time - I have more time to plan and try new recipes and it's just more relaxing. I am a person of many projects so that is when I can work on those - thus, not think about food. Plus it's usually a way to get some exercise in too.

I have more trouble at 6:00 when I get home from work on weekdays. I feel rushed to get dinner going and that's when I can slip and not write my points down. I can also absentmindedly put things in my mouth because that's when I'm the hungriest. Then sometimes when I get done with dinner, even though I'm not hungry anymore, I can still keep eating things that I want, not that I need.

That's my M.O. I know it differs for everyone. I'm trying to be more cognizant of what I do at weekday dinner hour. Always something to work on . . .

Good Evening y'all,

Thanks Lilion for starting a new Thread. It is nice to see some postings again. I was starting to get lonely!

Looks like everyone had a great weekend. My DH worked all weekend so it was not really exciting around here. We did go out to eat with friends on Friday and out to a movie on Saturday, but other than that, no much going on.
Weekends are OK for me except when we go out. I try to save points during the day and then try to pick something sensible off the menu if possible, but it is very difficult to try to actually count points when you don't really know what is in the things that you pick. So I try to do a general guess and try to put it at a higher point value than it really is, and then go from there.
My hardest part of the day is the days that I work and get home at like 3:30 p.m. From then until about 5:00 is my worst time. It is when I am most likely to "graze". I have been trying to do other things like run errands, go to the grocery, pick up dry cleaning...anything besides go home and pick at things that I don't need or really even want.
Jeanne....hope your back is feeling better. When do you get your MRI scheduled? And what is the big delay in getting it done? Seems like it should have been done by now!
DNR....I need to try some new receipes. Maybe next weekend.
Lilion....I love brunch too. Don't get it too often, but when I do, I love it!

Ok, lets' see some of the old faces around here. Lurkers, come out and join us! Nurseinc, saskube, boxerdawg...come out and play!

Have a great eveing and a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

Later.....GeeChee

Actually, I have to admit, I sometimes use a few flex points on the weekend. My super-secret-guilty-pleasure is the International/Middle-Eastern market in the town we go to every Saturday for dog obedience school. They have Baklava there TO DIE FOR ! 5 points! We stop for one piece each every single Saturday. The owner finds it quite amusing...these people coming in every weekend...buying one piece each and eating them in the car sitting out front of the market! I'm sure he wishes we'd spend more than $2.50 a week!

GeeChee: Weekdays are hard for me for the same reason as you...get home at 5:15 or so and "What's for supper?" starts! The crock-pot is definately my friend there! We try to have a plan...but it can be a real problem.

Good Evening Y'all,

Hope this finds everyone having a great Wednesday. I had the day off and so did my DH so, we ran around all day. Got alot of errands ran and things done, so that is a good thing! Even managed to make it to Ash Wednesday services this morning so it was a nice start to the day. My day finished with dinner out with friends and I am glad to say that I had the salad with one small slice of bread! So I am feeling good about my day.

Lilion....I use flex points on weekends too. If I need them, I figure that is what they are there for! I rarely use them during the week, so I think of them as my emegency bail out if needed!

Raynette...glad to see you checking in. I agree that the weekends are the worst for me. The structure of your day during the week is just so much more flexible. But you have done so well, I am impressed with your weight loss! You rock!

Jeanne..hope your back is better and you are still enjoying your mashed "pot"!

Have a great evening everyone!

Later...GeeChee

Default weekends are tough!

i'm new, and i'll make my official intro after i finish this quick entry.

weekends are harder for me. i think it's because of the free time. during the week, i go to school and work full time, so i eat at assigned times. it makes it a LOT easier for me to plan for. weekends are kind of a free for all. my family likes to go out for breakfast, if i happen to have school all day on saturday, we meet for lunch someplace. it's a struggle. but it's something i'm definitely getting better at!

my worst is buffets or going out to dinner at family's or friend's house. the buffets are more tempting to try everything and over eat. i'm diebetic also.

Hey Afternoon Y'all

I am enjoying the brief time that I have left before the whirlwind begins at my house! My youngest daughter is coming home from college today for spring break. And when I say whirlwind, that is exactly what she is when she is home! Along with her will come her mountain of clothes that she will bring with her. She probably has not done laundry since leaving for Christmas break, and I am not exagerating! So I am bracing myself to having her home again. I am hoping that she does not drag half her dorm with her...."but mom they had no where to go and I didn't want them to be alone!" So I am getting ready for noise, confusion, people coming and going, phones ringing, doorbells ringing and who know what else! I am exhausted just thinking about it! I love to see her come home and I love to see her leave again!!! Along with all of this, she has decided to give up meat for lent. Although I admire her determination, it will be difficult to deal with meals. Since my DH is a meat and potatoes type guy, balancing the two will be difficult! So my plan, is to drag her to the grocery when she gets home in abut an hour and a half and have her pick out things she wants. Never a dull moment with her in the house again!
Food wise has been a struggle. I am struggling once again with writing everything down. I know it makes a difference for me as far as my weight loss goes, but it is still difficult. It is like a do alot of self sabatoge! I know it works, so just do it!
Hope everyone else is doing well. to Glenn and Rahkstar.

Well, better get a few things done before the whirlwind hits home!

Later...GeeChee
