Question ? about wave 1

Does anyone know if you could or should stay in wave 1 longer than 10days?
Just figuring if you stayed there for a while then you would lose weight faster?
When I did atkins they gave you the choice-Just wonder what your thoughts are??

Thanks
Colleen

according to the nutritionist u may stay longer than 10 days, but I personally think you should add the fruit...the diet does work even in wave 2

wave 1 is to get rid of sugar cravings

The point of Wave 1 is to help you with cravings.. the weight loss is a bonus. Even if you stayed on Wave 1 longer, the initial loss would slow down, so don't expect the same loss if you stayed on for 10 more days.

Weight loss isn't a race. Your body is going to get there when it gets there. Some people are going to lose faster than others.. not fair but a reality. Find something that you can do for the rest of your life. The weight WILL come off .. slow and steady. For some people, being overly restrictive can back-fire on you in a big way and lead to a binge.

I personally didn't feel the need to restrict myself from anything along my journey and I am doing just fine.

I read the book and even now still have the audio version too, from what I understand if u have a very significant amount of weight to lose u can stay on the first stage of the atkins diet for much longer than the two week period. I guess the question is how much do u need to lose?

I'm sure you could, but the question is why would you? There is a section in the book about keeping your weight loss relatively quick, even with moving on to the second wave of the diet. Most people who burn out on a way of eating do so because of boredom. While wave one isn't terribly restrictive, I imagine it would get repetitive after a while.

Thumbs up Thanks....

I just wondered what the difference would be-
Maybe my husband would stick with it longer if he could eat fruit(if only they let you drink beer). I myself am not a fruit eatter.
I do agree that it is a good way of life-weather you diet or not.
anyhow today is day one for me and he starts tommorrow.
I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
Have a great day

Personally, I switched to Wave 2, because there were more choices and some different options available for meals, I know this will help to make this not only habit but actuallity.

I have had a couple of days where I have decided to eat just Wave 1 foods and meals, I think this helps keep the body guessing what I am doing and not getting used to it.

Hi - I'm doing Wave 1 again since only lost 3# 1st time. Someone else read in the book it is OK to do this again.

Good luck.

What about Diet Coke? Is it allowed? I am just deciding if I'd like to do this diet, and having a Diet Coke is a major deciding factor - sad huh????

khaedge, the use of sugars and artificial sweetners on this plan is limited. This way of eating stresses the use of fresh ingredients, rather than processed and prepackaged foods. You can have diet sodas, but limit yourself to 1-2 a day... none is best.

I am not going to give you another sermon how bad those things are for you because I'm sure you already know this....
