Unhappy Winter Drop off?

Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if anyone else is having a problem getting an excerise routine going when they start this time of the year. I'm about to hit week one of my diet and while I'm doing great on keeping under my calorie count. I just can't find the path to more exercise.

I love the winter, but it's just entirely to cold to walk my dog very far. I only own one work-out tape but I'm thinking of purchashing more. I can't afford a gym membership.. I just don't know what to do!

Any suggestions? Please?

I feel like I'll never find a way to get more excercise into my daily routine.

Move to a warmer climate! LOL just kidding (though it DID work for me) Have you thought about trying netflix or one of those online services that you can rent workout videos/DVDs? they are great if you tend to get bored easily or don't want to purchase a bunch that you'll never use again. Getting outside at least for a few minutes each day with the dog is great. Is there a community pool or indoor track in your area that is available for a low cost? Or try walking around the mall (actually WALKING not shopping lol). It's indoors so you'll be protected.

Good luck, you've got a great attitude!

I think dvds are the way to go. Especially when you're just starting out, you have the privacy of your own home if you feel self-conscious and the workouts are as good as in a class, I think. Check your library -- ours has a lot of dvds and videos.

I love my WATP. I'm not sure if some of that will seem a little less intense to people (it certainly isn't yet to me, but I haven't been in shape in some time now). I technically live in a warm climate, but using the heat here just doesn't happen and I find I'm cold a LOT during the winter. I'm not sure how it will work during the summer, but I love to do my WATP in the evenings to warm me up. My whole body warms up for a long time, even better than taking a hot shower. Some nights that is my motivation for doing my DVD, because I am so cold!

I join a gym in the winter just so I don't have to workout outside. They also have great aerobic classes.

Thanks for the great responses.

I would never survive a warmer climate *giggles!*

I didn't know however that you could rent dvds from netflix. My husband has been whining he wants to join. I told him it would be just another excuse to veg in front of the tv, but now maybe we can both get what we want

I'm thinking about a Y membership to. I'd love to have a track somewhere to walk.

Thanks again for all the helpful advice!
