Default Happy Australia Day

Happy Australia Day

Not sure if there are any other Australian's on this board but wanted to let you all know.

Not planning much today - I woke up this morning with a spliting headache and slept until 10.30am. I am just at home at the moment listening to Triple J Hottest 100 countdown (countdown of the top 100 songs of the year voted by the public - always a great listen).

Planning on doing my weights workout and then heading up to my mum's house for a drinkie-poo and to celebrate my puppy Lily's birthday today.

Happy birthday Lily she turnes 1 years old today.

OH is going to cycle up to my parents while I drive - I will be sitting by the pool eating prawns while he battles up the massive hill

Happy Australia Day everyone

I keep trying to claim Australia Day as a holiday, I'm an Aussie but live in England. Last year I cooked Anzac Biscuits, Lamingtons and other Aussie delights to raise money for the Asian Tsunami. I had just started my healthy eating plan, and it was the worst kind of torture, but haven't done so this time.

I so miss the hottest 100, I miss Aussie music so much. I went to see Powderfinger in Manchester a couple of years ago, it was fab! It was very funny, I think my boyfriend was the only English person there!!!!!

Happy Oz Day, and I wish I was home!!! I'm coming over for a holiday in January!!!!

Australia day commemorates when the First Fleet from England arrived in Australia and settled in Sydney. It's a national holiday. It can be quite controversial as the indigenous Australians feels it commemorates the invasion of Australia by the English.

Thanks for the explanation Kykaree. Controversial indeed - especially considering recent events over here lately.

You will be pleased to know that Bernard Fanning won the hottest 100! With his solo single "Wish you well". Very pleased about that.

With second being Ben Lee. I love that song, but DAMN can it get in your head.

I worked. I was sick for two days beforehand so I had to, so I could get decent money (woohoo $50 an hour! + my normal wage) Went home got pissed. Typical Aussie Day.

I don't think there is anything I wouldn't do for $50 an hour LOL!

I'm coming over in June, so the Hottest 100 should be out by then, and I can buy it on CD. I have given up ordering cds for Oz on the internet. I ordered the latest two cd's from The Panel. They went for an interesting journey, so I reported them missing, they turned up, I got charged a fortune in customs duty, so I won't bother again!

I'm old (33) and my favourite singer of all time is Mark Seymour and Hunters and Collectors, I have seen them in concert twice, and Mark once, and he did a set with Jo Camilleri and it was just fab!
