I get a lot of the prewashed bagged salads. Keep them tightly sealed once you open them. I've had them stay OK a few days.

Default Try a farmer's market...

My suggestion is to buy quality produce from a farmers market or high-end grocery store like Whole Foods instead of Safeway. It's worth the extra cost up-front to buy quality produce that will keep through the week rather than throwing your money out when the cheap produce goes bad.

One thing I've found that helps is to make sure that my produce is dry and in an airtight container.

I purchased these green bags from "QVC" and they are awesome! They are a little spendy to start with but I just wash them out and use them again. I have not had any produce spoil since I started using them and that is a savings. They do something to control the gasses that are released from produce. I have actually had bell peppers in the fridge for over 3 weeks..and lettuce stays so fresh.

I could get the name if anyone is interested...

Can you reuse those green bags? I see them on the website - they are expensive though. But so is tossing produce...
