Breaking the family tendency
Hey, I'm brand new here. I've carried around about 30 lbs extra since 8th grade (I'm in my third year of university now) and have lost it several times. However, it just keeps sneaking back up on me (ideas like not working out while travelling probably have something to do with that). However, my mother was just warned by her doctor that she needed to lose weight, and she mentioned to me that she had been sooo close to beating her weight problems so many times, and that she hoped I could do it while I still had so little to lose (note: I am the one who wants to lose this, she is not pressuring me, and only mentioned this after having heard my comments about starting a diet/exercise plan with the new semester). I know I feel better when I work out and eat right, but I really love to snack and sleep in... So basically, this is to help hold myself accountable to my goals. At the beginning of April we have some swing dance instructors coming in who are known for being able to safely teach ariels, but right now I am not in good enough shape to take their class. So my major goal is to improve my fitness level and weight to the point that I could consider doing that. Ideally I would like to lose all 30 pounds (which would put me smack dab in the middle of the healthy BMI range for my height). Hope talking with you folks will help me keep on track (the diet started this morning, and my workout class is in just a few hours).
