Default Any 18-21 year old Moms? Weight goal 30lbs!

Im a 20 year old engaged Mom with a one year old son.

When I got pregnant I was 140lbs
When I had my son I was 191lbs
When I started this so-called "diet" I weighed 170lbs
Now I weigh 162lbs

I have NO motivation and being a stay home mom, I tend to snack alot.
I need to talk to people along the same lines who, also, can not spend any money doing this challange...how do ya do it? Can anyone relate?!

well, i'm not 21, but i used to be a 21 y/o mom
before i got pregnant i was 135. by the time i had my first daughter, i was 260. dropped about 30 lbs of that fairly quick and 2 months after my first daughter was born, i was pregnant with my second. didn't get up to 260 again, only gained maybe 15 lbs with that pregnancy and that came off fast after birth. down to 204 now, and like you, i'm a sahm with a snacking problem.
i'm trying to eat healthy and exercising more. that's it. since the 1st, i've lost 6 lbs. the only thing i've bought is a tae bo kit that cost $35 at target (and turbo jam, but i would have done perfectly fine with the tae bo. turbo jam wasn't neccessary). before my husband got his current job and i was the only income, we'd simply walk the 4 miles around the lake near here and stop at the playground for the girls. i think chasing them was harder than the walk lol. that's what we did when he was in the army too. walk walk walk.
you can do it!!! and i'm pretty sure we can all relate

Default i can relate!!

hey girl. i know exactly how it is... i am a 21 y/o sahm, and i get bored and just eat! my baby is 6 months, and we just got married in october. i was about 140 before i got pregnant, 170 just after birth. and i have been struggling hard seeing lots of other new moms that are all skinny...it makes me so mad! so i finaly got sick of it. my sister majored in health and excersise science, so she knows a lot about getting healthy and losing weight, and she's helping me. i started by making a food diary to calculate exactly how many calories i was eating. i found out it was like 3000! and since the average female burns 1500 a day just by being alive, eat like 1300 and theres no way you can't lose weight. anyway, so thats what i've been doing, not even exercising (i will start pushing the stroller around the neighborhood when the weather is nicer). well, its been less than a week and i have lost 5 pounds. so i am very optimistic about it. don't get down about not being able to afford all these stupid diet plans. i have good news, THEY DON'T WORK. any doctor will tell you (and my very smart sister! *smile*) that fad diets don't work. most of them are too restricted, and you may lose weight on them, but eventually, you will want to eat again! isn't that everybody's story? they did this diet, it worked, but they gained it all back? its becuase most diest aren't realistic. cutting calories and exercise. thats all i got to say. what i am doing is trying to make my meals add up to 1000 calories, then if i slip up and eat some candy or junk, a couple hundred calories won't hurt, cuz i'm still below 1500 in the end. thats realistic, for me. and taking walks while pushing the stroller, thats something i can do too. oh, i read drinking lots of water boosts your metabolism, and even if its not true, water is super good for you anyway. so, i drink 5 12 ounce glasses, NO SODA EVER! soda is so incredibly bad for you. diet's fine, if you like it. i don't. and try to eat foods with less than or equal to 30% fat. then hey, at the end of the week, if you've done real good, splurge on a dinner out and get a dessert! it won't hurt. and don't eat after 7pm! metabolism goes way up in the evening and night (i am so bad at eating in the middle of the night if i'm up with the baby). anyway, i gotta go. trying to wathc a movie with my husband. good luck!

I'm not a SAHM, but I know what you all mean. Snacking is my fault. When I am at home, I snack so much. I found that drinking a glass of milk (skim) rather than eating helps me out...better than water. Then, I brush my teeth with some really minty toothpaste. Good luck!!
