Hello shelley!

I am 41 and LOVED it when I turned 40!! Everyone thought I was crazy. But, actually, I was looking forward to it...don't know why, but I did.
How much weight do you need to lose? Are you on any programs? There ar alot of groups you can join. Everyone is so friendly and caring. Motivation is a good thing to have so get motivated and inspired by some amazing stories at the "success" forum. Some stories will "blow you away."

Stay strong.

Hey Shelley, welcome canadian!! I too live in Canada, Winnipeg to be exact. You? I am looking for a buddy too, I am 42, battling a thyroid issue that frustrates me to no end and can't seem to stick to any of these diets and be accountable to anyone. I was thinking of joining TOPS in my area, but not sure. I would like to lose about 30 pounds, but realistically? 20 will do!!!
Write me back and we can plan our stragedy!

Hey there cutieshirl40. I am not quite sure how much weight in pounds I want to lose but size wise I would like to be into a 12/14 instead of 16/18 or mediums instead of xlarges if that makes any sense. I have always been athletic but since I separated from my husband(31/2 years ago) I am now on my own with two boys so finding the time to workout is really hard. Last March the boys and I started walking everyday(them on their bikes) and that was working well until our extremely hot summer came around( I live in Ontario). So I didn't do much all summer but since our new Y gym opened I have been going everyday on my lunch hour but it still only gives me about 30 minutes for a good cardio workout. How about you?

Emerald DragonFly: I can't believe you loved turning 40. I am really dreading it. So I have made my main goal to get in shape and look great by August. I have been watching the Biggest Loser since it started on TV and I can't believe the transformations they have made, and I don't have near as much weight to lose as any of them so I know I can do it. Just have to get to the gym and DO IT. Shelley

Thumbs up

Well, turning 40 is like turning 16 for me. Just knowing God as given me a chance to live my life to 40 is a wonderful thing. Alot of my cousins...second, thrids.....all died from cancer or something heriditary before they were 40. So for me, It was wonderful!!!

I LOVE "The Bggest Loser" series!!!! Even the new episodes with family competeing against each other, etc... I am also watching "Celebreality Fit Club" on VH1. It's amazing how some of those actors/actresses we grew up with enede up looking just like us! And we're not famous and have alot of money!!! LOL!! LOL!!

All I have to say is get motivated and be part of moviating someone elses life. We are in this together and who knows...you might be the only support system for 1 person...or vise-versa.

Take care and stay strong!

HI I am from Canada as well...Alberta. I turned forty 3 years ago and it was awesome. I was in Alaska on a Scout hiking trip. Don't get me wrong, I don't hike (much anyways) and I want to lose about 50 lbs. I have been at weightwatches for a month and have lost 5 lbs (woohoo) which over Christmas was a miracle for me. I just signed up to join curves. I start my program on Monday. I am sooo bad with the exercise. It is the first thing to go when my life is busy. I work full time, have a hubby 3 kids and 1 grandbaby!! Life is GOOD. I want to get healthy and be around for the wedding and graduations etc.

Get in the "right" frame of mind. Remember 1 day at a time. You CAN do it!!! I heard something the other day and I just can't get it out of my mind. A lady at WW said she was following the "S" diet. We all looked at her and thought... what you're not following the progam??? She smiled and said the "S" diet is....
NO SECONDS
NO SWEETS
NO SNACKS (OTHER THAN PLANNED ONES)

I thought what a great thing to follow. I know it sounds crazy but all week I keep thinking to myself do I REALLY need this or do I just WANT this?? Kind of made me think of what I was putting in my mouth. We will see if it makes a difference at the scale on thursday. Have faith it will happen!!!

Hi from Hamilton!
I'd love to be a buddy. I could use the support and I have a lot of support to offer. I just recently turned 44.

I am almost 39 and live in Ontario, I have a supportive loving husband and two step daughters, 15 and 9. I also have a 20yr old daughter from my first marriage. She is pregnant and is giving me my first grandchild in May.
I follow my own low carb regimine...I refuse to call my healthy eating a Diet...as Diet implies giving up the things I love and depriving myself...it's not like that for me. I take one day at a time and REALLY try not to give into temptations. It works most days.
I work as a Personal Support Worker through the day and find it very hard to motivate myself in the evenings to do exercise. I do put it into my mornings (sometimes) when I dont have to start out too early for work.
I have obstacles to overcome with my healthy eating...I have PCOS and IR as well as Seasonal Affective Disorder. This also causes me to have no motivation some days.
I would love to have a buddy that can encourage me, listen to my *****ing when need be, exchange ideas, recipes and challenges. I am a great listener, a warm and understanding person and can encourage you back!
