Cool Calorie Question

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what everyone did when it came to this calories in/calories out situation...

If you burned a lot of calories exercising- like the other day I burned probably like 700+ working out for a LONG TIME (i still feel it ugh)...and you planned on eating 1500 cals for the day...obviously your net intake would be like 800 which is extremely low...do you eat more to fill that loss? I didn't before, and I am wondering if that is why I practically eat PERFECT and work out a lot...and I am not losing any weight. Do I need to eat more so my body doesn't think it's starving? What do you all do?

What do you think?

Thanks a lot!
Julie

I am by far no expert, but I would say that you just aren't getting enough calories. Perhaps you should add an extra 200-300 calories on days when you do such a grueling workout, so your body doesn't go into starvation mode. And make sure you're drinking enough water! (nothing specific, I just think it's always a good suggestion ) Your efforts seem so dedicated, you'll bust through this in no time!!!

Hang in there!

Hmm... I don`t think that your body is starving, but you might need to up your calories maybe 100 or 200 calories if you`re working out that much just so you have energy and feel full. It seems like it would kind of... negate your hard work to take in all the calories you've burned.
Just make sure that your calories are coming from good foods (lean protein, veggies, fruits and whole grains) and give it time. You say you aren`t losing any weight, but how long have you been trying? Sometimes it is takes a while for your body to start losing weight. Do your clothes feel looser? Maybe you're toning up before you start to drop the pounds. I think there are a lot of reasons that the scale doesn't move as fast as we`d like it, but if you`re doing everything right, I'd say give it at least two weeks before you start to reevaluate your plan.

I have been in the same boat as you. I have been trying to stick with about 1300 cal/day while working out and I just was not losing. So this past week I have increased my calorie intake about 200-300 cal/day while also giving myself two days a week to eat about 1700 cal. My sister who recently lost 45lbs recommended this method to me. I just began so I am not quite sure if it was the right thing to do or how it will turn out though. Good luck!

I would play with your calories, first going up a couple hundred, if that doesn't work, try going lower. If that doesn't work, try to stagger them (i.e. 1500 Tuesday, 1200 Wednesday, 1700 Thursday and so on). Also, make sure to give it some time, like lizzie suggested.
