Default Question About PCOS

Hi everyone, I have a really stupid question about PCOS. Does one, typically, have irregular or nonexistant menstrual cycles since puberty? Or can it, all the sudden, become irregular or nonexistant? I read the articles on this site but I couldn't figure out if it's something you have when you hit puberty and get your period, or if it can develope over time. The reason I'm asking is because up until 2 months ago I had a very regular cycle. I do have other signs of it though like abnormal hair growth and abdominal weight, but I have had both of these "traits" before the irregular cycle. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

P.S.- I'm new here and it's so nice to meet all of you

Hello Ebony. Welcome to the boards! No questions here are stupid ones!! In my honest opinion, I think you can get PCO as an adult. With me, during puberty, my cycles were regular. I didn't notice any symptoms until my early 20s...unexplained weight gain, adult acne, and spotty or non-existant periods. Check out www.soulcysters.net for a boat load of PCO info if you haven't already been there. HTH.
