This is probably a stupid question, but I have no idea what the deal is...
When I weighed myself this morning, the scales showed 155. When I weighed myself tonight, less than 12 hours later, the scales show 159.5. What in the world is going on here?
Water weight! Along with the weight of what you ate today. Don't worry about it at all. I usually waiver anywhere from 3-6 pounds from morning till night. Totally normal!
don't worry about it, I just gained 3 lbs in a day...the time of the month makes a huge difference for me too, I ALWAYS gain a few pounds at this time...drink TONS of water to flush the water weight out, and dont eat a ton of food (esp. salt) after supper before bed
Of COURSE you weigh less in the morning--you didn't eat all night while sleeping, so you're empty! In the evening, think about it--you've got everything you ate all day plus any possible water retention and countless other things...this is why you should weigh yourself at the SAME TIME of day and under the SAME conditions (example: I always weigh myself in the morning AFTER I pee, BEFORE breakfast, and when I'm completely naked just BEFORE getting in the shower--can't weigh myself with wet hair, ya know ).
You cannot gain 5 pounds of fat in 12 hours. In order to do so, you would have had to have eaten 17,500 calories more than what you burned (so, about 20,000 calories in those 12 hours). That's practically impossible (although, I'd be up to the challenge if it involved cheesecake right about now )!
Now, I just have to work on telling myself that I'm not a complete failure since I ruined all of today's hard work by eating a huge chocolate chip muffin after dinner
