Default Got my Juicer...now what??

Ok, so I wanted a juicer for Christmas and now I need to know what to do with it!! It came with a few recipes, but mostly fruit ones (I am eating low carb) and I made an awful veggie one today (cabbage celery and apple). Does anyone use a juicer? If so, do you peel the veggies? Core the apples? And is the fibre content better to actually eat the whole veggie rather than just the juice? I am looking for the most nutrients with the smallest servings of food. Any tips or recipes would be great!

Hi there-
I do own a juicer although I don't use it much anymore. I made a few veggie juices with it. I didn't like the veggie juices. I like to eat so I eat my veggies plus the fiber is soooo good for you. I made apple juice and carrot juice but again I like to eat those more than drinking them. Plus juice is so rapidly absorbed into your system that I like to just eat my fruits and veggies.
I have a friend who loves her juicer and she juices all the time. I don't think you have to peel anything but citrus. I never peeled apples or carrots or veggies just gave them a good washing first.
I hope you find some good juicing recipes.
There is one I love. I used to take bananas and peel them , freeze them and then run them through the juicer with the solid sheild not the screen (if you have a champion brand juicer). My friend calls it banana whip. It tastes like ice cream. It's so good, but I'm not sure if you eat bananas on your low-carb plan. Have fun trying different combos of fruits/veggies! Whether you eat them or drink them the live/raw vitamins and minerals are great for your body.

I have a juicer. Dh uses it more than i do.
He will put anything in it! the only thing he skins is citrus. He even puts watermelon in skin and all!
a typical juice for him is. a carrot, a tomato, 2 celery stick, a beetroot(raw).

Beetroot is supposed to be amazing health wise especially raw.

A few of the diets i have come across over the years say that it is much better to eat the fruit and also get the fibre. They say with juice you are getting the same calories, but less fibre, and juice is quicker to drink, and fills you up less, and usually one glass of apple juice is like eating 3-4 apples.
???

But then you have the nutritional value of juice! one health nutritionist I know told my DH that 1 glass of vege juice each day makes a huge difference! like a multivitamin pill! he tells anyone who lacks energy and get up and go, to have a home juiced vege juice every morning!

In my mind... vege juice might be the go! lower cal! lots of nutrition.
Fruit juices should be kept for an occasional treat!
