Smile I saw the endocrinologist today!

Hi everyone,

I finally saw the endocrinologist today. I was wondering if any of you know how Doctors find out if you are actully IR? The endo told me that I was IR without even testing me. I asked him about IR and he said "you are IR" wrote me a script and that was the extent of my visit. He didnt explain anything to me. I get so very frustrated But, I am willing to try anything or almost anything to help me. I was kind of disappointed with the whole visit today. Am I expecting too much?? I guess I would like someone to explain instead of me finding all of my information on the internet. I feel like I am always rushed out of the offices and it seems to me that there is little compassion or care for patients today. I wanted to ask questions and I could tell he was in a hurry and just wrote the script and see ya later bye! The nurse did test my sugar by pricking my finger with that one meter thingy. It was 105, she said that was good. So why the glugophauge????? I just feel like I am in the dark. Who is out there that cares and is willing to spend a few minutes to educate their patients???? Well, its late and I need to get off to bed. I will start my glugophauge tomarrow and see how everything goes. Oh and thanks to everyone for your replies on my previous post. It was very much appreciated to feel understood!

God Bless,
Heather:

he should have given u a hemoglobin a1c test which can see your blood sugar levels for the past 3 months.. tho a person with IR may not have high blood sugar levels..

but there are also other physical symptoms that can indicate IR

Default Did your PCP run tests?

Did you have blood work done before you went to the endo?

Did you have a physical exam or have you told them that you have skin tags and discolored patches of skin?

Are you apple shaped and overweight?

Any one of these may have been the reason he just wrote the script.

If I were you though, if possible, look into see another endo. There are good ones out there that will actually take the time with you and ask questions.

Thanks for your replies, I do have skin tags, I am overweight along with major hair loss. I am very frustrated because I really dont know where to turn to. How do they test for IR? It just seems like none of the docs I have seen really give a damn about this PCOS stuff. I will just keep looking for new docs.

Thanks again for your support and good luck to you,
Heather
