Default Help on drinking that *&%^% * glasses of water!

I know that they say 64 oz of water is best. I know this, and I bought a water bottle w/ounces over the summer when i was at the camp i work at, thinking 100+ weather was a great time to start. It didn't happen.

My question is this: How do you make yourself drink it all? Is there a waterbottle out there that can carry the full 64 oz? THat would help immensely, as I work in a high school and I can't really leave the room to get more water. (plus water would keep me away from the soda machines in the faculty offices.)

Help! and thank you in advance!

Vanessa

Vanessa, I actually do have a bottle that holds 64 oz of water (it's more of a Tupperware jug, actually. I got it at Target). I fill it up every day before I go to school and drink it until it's gone. It's a bit heavy to lug it around when it's full, but that gives me incentive to empty it! Using the bottle helps me make sure I get enough.

Good luck to you!

Personally I'm a chugger. The water I buy comes in 32 ounce bottles so I chug one usually within an hour before the gym and another in the morning with breakfast. It gets it out of the way and I get to drink it while it's still cold. Warm water is just gross IMO. It helps to cut out other liquids too because you can only hold so much comfortably. I cut out almost all my soda because before I could NEVER get it in. Your best bet is just to make yourself do it for awhile and soon it will be habit just like anything else.

1 liter is about 32 ounces... so try a Nalgene bottle.
If you can keep it on your desk right in front of you, maybe you'll be more likely to sip on it?
I think that it's best to drink it slowly rather than just chugging it to get it out of the way (your body just flushes it really fast that way).
So maybe you can try to get one Nalgene emptied before lunch, and the other done after lunch?
Good luck.

PhysDom, that is exactly the method I use. A nalgene before lunch, and another after lunch, and by the time I get home if I didn't quite finish it I'll make it up with a couple glasses during dinner. Using the nalgene really helps keep me motivated to drink water because it has markings on it so I can see exactly how much I drank already.

Yes! And they're -very- sturdy, not like reusing bottled water bottles.
I love mine.

I use 16 ounce water bottles. I have just recently set a schedule for myself to make sure I finish a bottle before the set time (10:30 AM, 2:00 PM, 4:30 PM and 7 PM). Before I was chugging water one glass after the other then read up on several articles saying that your body isn’t getting the full benefit if you just drink that much at a time because your body will just want to release the water as quickly as possible. They say it is best to spread your water throughout the day so the body can reap the benefits of the water. Perhaps if you buy the big water bottles (I’m not sure how much they hold) that might work for you.

Let us know what you end up doing!!

Hmm...I'll have to try the naglene. I just use a 1L water bottle. One in the morning, one in the afternoon.

those are all excellent suggestions....I think I'll try the 16 oz one. The bottle I have is a nalgene that's 16 oz. That means 4 a day, we have block scheduling, which means one a block....I'll just have to figure out how to refill it....maybe between classes....hmmmm

Thanks everyone!

I have the same problem. If I drink more than 4 glasses of water a day I am peeing every 15 minutes. I can do it, it just makes me seriously uncomfortable so I choose to not drink the full amount for my bladders sake. I have actually read, don't know if it's true, that although it's recommended it's not absolutely necesary to have tha much water to be healthy.

Yeah, GeminiQueen, that is also the other problem I've been thinking about....Cause I do the same thing, and I keep thinking...hmmm, can't leave the room during class for that! I'll try the 64 oz this weekend, and if that's an issue, maybe I'll have to cut it down some. :-p

I hate looking at that huge jug of water that I have to drink so, this is how I do it: 1 cup first thing in the morning, 1 cup w/breakfast, 2 cups at work, 1 cup w/ lunch, 1 cup w/ dinner, 2 cups w/ workout. total = 8 cups!
