Well, I am up and showered! I was late almost every day last week. Maybe, I will try to turn over a new leaf this week.
My dog, Duchess has been scratching on the door early this morning in anticipation of going to work. (She goes with us every day and the weekends kill her.) Plus, DS woke up too. He kept asking for water and trying to talk. So up I was at 5:30 to take my shower. DS started crying for me when I was in the shower. So, DH had to get up too! They are both snoozing again.
The weekend was slow. I stayed home most of it, b/c of my DS getting sick. I still managed to get to the gym. I marked off 1 bingo square on Friday and 2on Sunday. I tried Belly Dancing. It was fun! Oh and I need to change my ticker to 158!!! I have been at 160 for a while now, so I am happy to break the barrier!
Djett: Congrats on the 2lb loss! Especially this time of year, with all the temptations around, it's really hard to lose weight.
It was a busy weekend here after my daughter and granddaughters finally came. We did a little shopping Sat. evening, then started right in with the Great Cookie Caper after going out for breakfast Sunday morn. My DIL came with my other granddaughter at noon and joined in the fun. It was total chaos, but a lot of fun! We finished up by 8 last night, but I still have to make Macaroons for my son, and Jake wants plain chocolate chip (no nuts!), so I'll work on making them as I get the time this week. I have to leave in a few minutes for my Weigh & Measure at Curves, and I couldn't have picked a worse time for it, after all the cookie sampling. Oh well, you have to live a little, and I'll be good for the rest of the week.
Fly by post this morning. I need to take my car to the dealer for a recall. It'll be quick but I hope to get to drink my coffee and read my paper while I'm there.
I did almost nothing yesterday except throw together some crockpot chili! I notice my nails are in bad shape so it's time to pay more attention to nutritious eating. I never thought the day would come when I would not feel like eating but Tylenol seems to do that to me.
It's Crappy out ..cold and rainy and the forecast is calling for a whole day of it! Well ladies, I WENT TO THE GYM THIS MORNING! My neighbor/Landlord is " training me" so today was Lower, Tomorrow Upper, Wednesday Cardio... and so it goes... I love to work out first thing in the morn... believe it or not I use to be a gym bunny... mostly Step classes..and I miss it... so Djett, seeing your dedication really helped me get my butt in gear!~ and Congrats on those 2 pounds
Cottage:yum yum macaroons ANOTHER FAvorite Cookie!!!!
Ruth: I hope that knee is starting to feel better!!
Day 2 of my SBD, and all is well. Except - I've already boo boo'd! As the plan prescribes a vegetable cocktail in the morning (I'm doing the plan by the book for phase 1) and I've been having something called Vie. It's a small Yakult-sized bottle of (what I thought were) veggie juice. Except today I realised that yes, it has carrots, but also apple and strawberry. Argh! No wonder I found it drinkable!
The turkey rollups were nice though. Planning on getting out an excersize vid later, and then watching Hubby kill himself laughing whilst I wobble round the front room.
Good morning! A beautiful day in the neighbourhood,Crisp, clear, cold!!!!!!!!
All the big kids off to school. 2 preschoolers til noon. My big Avon Christmas order goes in today. Follow up calls to make and then send it off. I will do some shovelling at some point for exercise. I am feeling fat. I want to change this.
Hubby seems to be back on track. He got some good rest on the weekend. He spent some time with friends yesterday.
I got some tidying done. I am itching to bake and make scrap books for the my kids and the kids I babysit. I may make some christmas cards too.
I received a gift certificate for a 1/2 hour massage. I called the guy and told him I wanted to use it for hubby. He said, “no way! you will both come ! “ So, tonight at 8 Hubby will go for a 1/2 hour and then come home and then i will go for a 1/2 hour. Of course the fact that a total stranger was compassianate and caring and realized how much a mom needed to be nurtured( his words) made me cry, LOL.
Kids have been awesome all weekend. Gotta love it.
Hockey practise and 4.
Oatmeal and coffee for breaky.
Had this big epiphany about “breaking the cycle”. My kids are very vocal( and physical) about everything as is hubby and well....myself. We are open and communicate( A great deal) whether it is effective or not.
What my son shows on the outside is what i had going on on the inside as a kid but had learned it was wrong to show it, talk about, or even feel it, most definitely by the time I was 7. I would be punished, ignored, put down with sarcasm, told I was worng, unstable, too sensitive.......... So, as busy and hard as our family life can be at times, I can honestly say it is a safe enough and loving enough environment for all of us to be ourselves completely without fear. Imagine the possibilities of growth and love and experience for our kids in this environment!!!!!!!!!
I am new to your forum, but not new to this site. I've done Weight Watchers, Slim Fast, my own thing, trainer's diet, you name it. I know that being sedentary is not helping my weight loss journey and I am trying to get back on track. Right now I have a crazy schedule, so I've enlisted a trainer who will train me virtually (basically, giving me a workout goal every two weeks or so and following my nutrition, meeting face to face every two weeks or so).
South Beach, which I have tried before is being used as my nutrition plan. I lost 11 lbs. in Phase 1, when I did this 2 years ago and this time I've only lost 4 lbs. There were many factors associated with the low loss, i.e. little exercise, Vegas trip and Thanksgiving. I know all of this but I am still getting very discouraged. My trainer is great, but I would really love to get some insight and support from others who are doing the same plan. She has told me that Phase 2 and 3, should be considered a way of life not a diet and I want to believe that.
Since my weigh in last Tuesday, I have pretty much been off plan except for maybe a day and a half. Today, I'm trying to get back on Phase 1.
How do you guys keep from getting bored? Do many of you take your meals to work? How do you prevent meal preparation, for one, from becoming tedious? I look for any insight you can give.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I didn't go outside yesterday because of the slick conditions of the roads.Going to get a baut,onTues calling for 6-8" of new snow : tonight and into tomorrow.
I better get on the ball and get my Chrstmas shopping done before its to late. Oh well!! I can always use the computer.
djette-Hope you little guy is better today,so you can get you sleep. Happy to hear that you moved your ticker down ,hopefully that will happen to me in the near future.Big congrats leaving the 160's and hello 150's.
Cottage-I love baking cookies, and we have favorites too. So this year I planiing on owely making the special ones. DH loves:loves: raspberry tarts and I love anything with chocolate & peanutbutter. Chocolates chips are always a favorite. Leave the nuts to Schatzi
Ruth-Meds.will do that,We loose our appetites after we've taken any.Gelatine are good for nail repair.
Schatzi-That wonderful that your on a roll with exercising, I have to get back to doing something different other that biking. Going to try weight training today.
Oberon-Welcome to the daily,SB and this board. I love V8, but I'm now into veggies for breakfast. Had salmon burger on two portabella mushrooms for Breakfast this morn.YUMMMMMMMMY.
Holly-Have a great time at the party even thought is just 1/2 hr. Your out of the house, and thats good.
txlawchic-Welcome to the daily, board and the beachBig congrats on your 11 lb weight loss and for the 4 this time around. Don't get bored as I look for different recipes on this board and other low carb web site.
I washed up on this side of Lake Michigan after spending the weekend shopping in Chicago! I managed to stay OP most of the weekend. I did have 3 drinks on Sat night but I did pack my peanuts and SBD balsamic vinagrette and Atkins bars. Luckily there is a Ruby Tuesday in Gurnee Mills Mall so I was able to eat OP with Mashed Califlower and Turkey burgers wrapped in ww wraps both days. I did have a Ceasar Salad in the Rainforest Cafe for dinner. DM and I walked everywhere! From the motel to the mall back to the motel etc. The bus did drop offs and pick ups but we chose to walk. So I probably did burn off any extra calories I ate. I ate OP but my calorie count was probably too high with nuts and stuff.
Other than being extremely dehydrated (every pop machine's water was sold out in the mall - I weigh exactly what I did when I left for Chicago so I think I did ok. Especially since TOM is due tomorrow or Thursday I'm never sure. So I'm feeling pretty good about my self control.
So I'm on the quarts of Green Tea and water today. I had one cup of cawfee cause I'm so tired I needed the jolt.
I've got to tell you chicks a little secret. I've been trying the "Reverse Diet" except adapted to SBD and if I hadn't gone to Chi town I think I would have been able to drop a lot more pounds. I lost 2 more before going to Chi town so I'm at 213. I saw the Reverse Diet thing in Womens World and thought it was a cool idea. You all know me I get bored and I have to feed my ADD and I have screw around a little. But anywhoo - you take the total amount of calories you need for the day and switch breakfast and dinner. So you have the bulk of your calories in the morning and the minimum at night. This is not a new concept but she wrote a book and lost 172 pounds doing it. She does not do SBD but her diet is 1500 calories a day broke down to 600 for BKFT, 400 LCH, 300 DNR, and 100 for each snack. I lowered mine to 1300 and I do 500 for BKFT, 400 LCH, 300 DNR and 50 for each snack and mine are all SBD OP. Let me tell you chicks - it is not easy to eat 500 calories for breakfast or stick to 300 at dinner. I tried to get it all worked out last Mon & Tues which was day 1 & 2 of Phase I for me. Finally by Wed I got the hang of it. I lost 5 pounds from Monday to Friday am. I had a hard time reversing diets this weekend in CHI so I didn't worry about it.
So I'm back to reversing today. I'll keep you guys posted on the results! Have an OP day chicks!
txlawchic - Welcome to the Beach! I do take my lunch to work every day. When I make dinner, I often make meals where I can freeze a lunch portion. I often take chili, lamb stew, broccoli cheese soup, ham asparagus pasta, and many other meals. Sometimes I will make up a mix of dinner if it is meat, veggies and maybe rice or ww pasta. There are lots of great recipes. Mostly I cook phase 2 but I eat lots of vegetables.
We had a great weekend. Saturday morning our Cub Scouts were in the Holiday Parade. The boys rode their scooters with cardboard armadillos attached while we leaders had sheriff badges and star balloons. The theme was Lone Star Christmas. We won first place for boys marching again this year! The weather was wonderful. It even got up to 89 degrees in the afternoon. It was so nice we got outside and did lots of yardwork and then got the lights on the shrubs and the yardart up.
That evening we went up to Santa's Village. One little house is the Pet shop and is run by the animal shelter that we volunteer at. So Brian and I spent three hours working inside. If you can call it working. Brian held a puppy on his lap while the little kids pet it. The older ones could reach inside and pet the other puppies. They also had lots of kittens too. Outside were the goats, chickens, rabbits and ducks. We were really lucky to be able to work inside though. And we had lots of visitors to the shelter yesterday adopting animals while we were volunteering. That is always rewarding.
The cold has finally arrived though. It was 28 this morning. Quite a change from 89. I HAVE to get out and buy Brian a heavy code. I didn't realize until this morning that last year's doesn't fit anymore.
Weightwise, I have lost almost everything I gained over Thanksgiving. It was a good weekend for eating healthy.
Good morning everyone....I worked the entire weekend & there were a lot of crazies in there! I'm curious we all know that Dec 25 is Christmas & you would think people would realize that there will be lines because Christmas is like 20 some days away...but no. There alway one dumb one in the bunch. In my store there are 6 registers....that's it -6. This lady was upset because I wouldn't open another register. It was really fun trying to explain to her that I wasn't choosing not to open another register, I just couldn't because there's only 6 in the ENTIRE store! There isn't one in the back I can wheel up or whatever she wanted.Ugh! Idiot!
And another thing that bugs me...parents that don't parent. Tell your children to behave, they ARE a reflection of you. Don't tell them that if they don't stop doing whatever that "the mean lady over there will get you." Why does your child need to fear me? You are the parent, you tell them to stop. UGH!! Most of the time I love my job....I get to wear jeans to work, I can shop at work (who wouldn't love that!?) but sometimes I wonder hoe people can function in the world.
OK....off the soapbox. Well I decided to become one of those folks that writes down everthing that the eat...yeah I know, but I gotta do something!
Well I have to go..have a great OP day!
Djett, congrats on making exercising a priority this time of year, especially with a sick kiddo. Glad to hear of the loss!
Cottage, the cookie making sounds fun. Some of my favorite memories are of making cookies with my family. I'm making all my cookies SBD-safe this year. The majority of our cookie-plate gifts go to our neighbors, and one person at each house on our block has Type 2 Diabetes, so it's good for them, too. Plus that means I can have them, too! So it's good all 'round. Some old favorites won't be possible, but most will work well, I think, even with WW flour.
Ah, Ruthie, take care of yourself, sweetheart. Any chance that a lovely neighbor/fellow churchgoer would make you a mess of lovely veggies while you recoup? No wonder Tylenol makes you not want to eat...when I was recovering from surgery was one of the few times I didn't want to eat. Though, when you don't eat with Tylenol, it can play havoc with your stomach, sometimes. Hope that doesn't happen. Huge for you...love you, hon!
Schatzi, good for you on the exercise! I love working out in the morning too, but today I'm doing Jazzercise at night...I love that class, so I can get up enough energy to do it at night.
Oberon, try counting again from today, okay? Otherwise you won't get the full effects of Phase 1. Thankfully you found out soon so you didn't lose too much time. The tomato juice/V8 is only there for people who can't live without juice at breakfast. You don't have to have it...eating whole veggies actually fills you up more and has more nutrients. I know you're just following the menu for now, but feel free to make that your first substitute.
Holly, love that the massage therapist was so giving, especially at this time of year. What a special gift! Enjoy that massage!
TXLawChick, it sounds like you're doing a lot of bouncing around on plans (I can relate!), but it also sounds like you get easily discouraged. Hon, any plan will work, but you have to commit to making it a lifestyle change, permanently. When you get to maintainence, you'll be able to have more leeway, but if you sabotage yourself, especially during detox periods, you won't ever see the success that you are capable of and deserve. So, try doing 3-5 days of Phase 1 again (if you are still having cravings after the t-day and Vegas eating), and then commit to doing this wholeheartedly with very few splurges outside the plan. We all know that there is *always* an excuse to NOT eat healthy...but as our wonderful spotlight dieter and mod Sandi's sig says, "If you want this, you'll find a way, if not, you'll find an excuse". I bet you do want this...but you have to keep finding those ways. Sounds like you're already doing that by asking about ways to keep this fun and interesting! Check out the recipe forum for tons of great recipes. Personally, I subscribe to Cooking Light and I enjoy modifying their recipes to make them OP--they are creative and fun, but not too time consuming, so I get a huge variety of foods. We eat leftover dinner for lunch the next day, so that cuts down on prep time. I also borrow cookbooks from the library and modify those recipes. It can be a lot of fun. I wish you tons of luck with the trainer and the plans! Don't be discouraged...4 lbs during a second Phase 1 is GREAT! The more you have to lose and the more carbs you ate before you do Phase 1, the more you lose. If you don't have a lot to lose and you were eating pretty healthy before you started, you won't lose much during P1, but that doesn't mean you won't lose well once in P2.
BB, I did a lot of X-mas shopping on the computer...easy and fun!
Amy, sounds like a great shopping trip! I have to admit, as attractive as they often sound, most of the plans in mags like Women's World aren't really very effective...but the thought pattern on this one sounds pretty smart. In some places, they eat most of their food at breakfast and lunch. We tend to be more sedentary at night, so it makes sense to eat less then. I know I felt much better in Mexico, where we had the lightest dinners (if any) and had huge lunches.
What a fun weekend, Barb! I love that you helped with the animals. Your son is going to be such a phenomenal person, Barb...I envy the one he marries! Congrats on losing the t-day gain. I had no idea you got that cold down there! Whew! That's even colder than us in the north! Brrrr...
Me:
Oh, I do feel quite a bit overwhelmed! I have SO much to do! I have to spend some time today making lists and a schedule for the week so I can get on track. I have a ton of cookies to bake, a house to decorate, a party to plan for, some presents to finish making/shopping for, presents to ship by next Saturday, lights to put up outside, and somehow I need to fit exercising in there too!
Had a fun weekend...went to a Scottish Christmas concert on Friday night (fantastic!), a couple Christmas fairs on Saturday, visited a local brick-oven pizza place that just started serving WW crust (YUM!), and saw a great Irish band at a local pub. Yesterday we helped out with advent crafts with the church kiddos and did some shopping. Then we both took a nap! We're pooped!
Laurie - I meant to tell you how proud I am of you. Last time I was here you were 210, you just keep clicking along! Good for you! You are such an inspiration! Yes I know Womens World is always has SOMETHING! weightloss spectacular that they hype. However I believe this one is not a new concept - you are right - when you go to other countries they have "dinner" at lunchtime and a light supper in the evening. As long as I stay true to SBD I think I should be ok-dokey.
Soon - I was in a very large mall with thousands of those people. I wish you all the in the world!
Schatzi- YAY FOR GETTING TO THE GYM! I am proud of you!
Hollyhock- ENJOY the massage! Yay! How sweet!
txlawchic- I know what you mean about the cooking being tedious. A lot of the recipes on here have A LOT of ingredients. But, I think that a lot of times, I over think cooking on program meals. An acceptable meat, some steamed or roasted veggies and you have a meal. I find that cooking and freezing is helpful too. (I am having problems in this area as we have an extra houseguest that causes the use of leftovers to be limited.) In a pinch, I will use the SBD frozen dinners. I really enjoy Wendy's Chili for lunch sometimes. There are salads that I enjoy with modifications from fast food places. Sometimes, I have a coworker also on the plan and we share lunches from the dinner before. I hope you get in gear on your exercise. That is a big important part of losing weight for me. Good luck and Welcome!
Beach Bum- Thank you! He is all better today. He was fine yesterday. He had gotten a little too used to being in Mommy's lap on Friday and Saturday.
soon2Bfab- I have worked retail and your vent made me LOL! I'm sorry you had a rough day!
Beachgal- I was so surprised that I went to the gym. Right before I decided to go.. I had written an email to a friend saying that I was going to blow it off. I don't know how I got motivated. I was so proud of myself. Then, I couldn't believe the people in the class talked me into staying over for Belly Dancing. It was so fun. I am glad that I went. Plus, DH got some valuable daddy time!
