Default Yoga Video Reccomendations?

Hi everyone. I'm looking to add some Yoga to my routine. I'm looking for something mostly for flexibility and "feel-good", not necessarily weight loss. I've done a few videos with yoga in them so I'm not a COMPLETE beginner but I would like something that teaches proper form and breathing.
Thanks!

I haven't found too many that I like, which is why I am making my own

I have found that there aren't enough adaptations in some of the "mainstream" videos and the the "Plus-Sized" one I saw ( I don't remember the name exactly) was too simplistic. There are a few I like (Gurmukh's are GREAT but really TOUGH) but that's a specific style (Kundalini) and not a general "Yoga" video and really challenging for plus-sized women. Some of the best ones are actually PREGNANCY videos, becuase they are all about the breath, the alignment and aren't as difficult for a plus-sized woman, taking into account an expanded belly .

I'll keep checking this thread to see what others report because I am interested too

Yogini, I've sent a couple pm's (one last week and one tonight) but I'm not sure if they are getting through. Is your inbox full?

What makes the Kundalini Yoga more difficult for plus sizes? The only thing I know about Kundalini is what I heard from "The Goddess Workout". Isn't it like a serpent that is supposed to live at the base of your spine or something?

I'll check my box

Kundalini is VERY vigorous! Imagine holding your arms up and out in a "T" formation, in perfect alignment for 3 whole minutes while breathing "breath of fire" (in and out the nose rapidly pumping the navel). That's the kind of stuff we do in Kundalini. I adapt sets for seniors and plus-sizes and also encourage everyone to listen to thier body and come out of pose when needed and to get right back up when they can

I really like Vinyasa FLow taught by Rainbeau Mars, and Sara Ivanhoe is a great instructor. I have only seen the latter on the Dummies sereies, but do know that she has quite a few out.

firmgirl, I saw on Amazon that Rainbeau Mars has a set for morning and evening and Sara Ivanhoe has like a 4 or 5 disk set of short workouts. I was thinking about one of those but wanted to see if anyone mentioned those instructors and you did both!

Howdy,

I just got a new set of yoga videos a few weeks ago. They are called "Yoga Now". They feature Rodney Yee (a big yoga guy) and Mariel Hemingway. There are two 10 minute workouts (a morning energizer and night time one), a 30 minute workout and 50 minute workout. I find them to be more about fitness and breathing than the "spiritual" (or as judgemental little me calls it "flaky") aspects of yoga. I can get up a sweat doing the 50 minute, and doing all of them have made me more flexible. The short ones are great for some relaxation time. They are not too tough (no pretzel poses here!) but they are still a good workout. I like it, I like it a lot!

I tried a yoga DVD once and found that I wasn't able to do it. I'm going to try again, but this time with Leslie Sansone's "You Can Do! Yoga". I've heard it's a pretty good DVD for beginners (I hope so!!).
