Exclamation 14 years old, can use a buddy or 2!!

Hello people, my name is Megan, I live in Oregon and am a Freshman in high school.I am currently 300 pounds, and just under 6 feet tall. Well, my life started off rough, my family lived in a trailer park and could only afford the crappy "clog your arteries" junk food, I ended up living off that stuff until I was 8. I was made fun of by all the kids at school, until I hit highschool. Then the teasing eased up a bit, although it is hard when I go to a rich school with skinnies everywhere. I guess I came here to lose weight and go on a good healthy diet. I wish to be at my "healthy weight" of 145, so i have a long way. I know I will need moral support so, any buddies will be killer! Thanx!!

Megan, this is just the buddy-up page. Don't take it too seriously. Why don't you go to the other forums and post. Ask questions, voice concerns, just generally "talk" and you will get more feedback. Why don't you visit the 100lb Club forum, they seem really nice and helpful, or you could hang out with the 20-somethings forum, they are a great bunch there too. Explore a bit more and share a bit more too--- you have only posted twice!!

Megan, I have to agree with Charlotte. The 20-somethings forum is fantastic. I believe there is a forum for teenagers, but I havent seen them in awhile. There are also many forums specific to the type of plan you are/will be following. For instance, if you count calories, if you're on Atkins or South Beach, TOPS, Weight Watchers or LA weight loss. You'll find groups for vegetarians, vegans, pagans, Christians...pretty much any body and everybody. I'd suggest playing around a bit on the forums and finding a group that you can identify with the most.

Megan.. welcome to the boards. You'll find a ton of support and motivation but you can't stay in the buddy threads to find it!! Branch out!! Im at the 100lb club ALL the time! Awesome crowd there. I pop in and out of the 20-something club as well... they're just as awesome You'll be able to find tips and support in the different clubs that you'll need to be successful in your new lifestyle change!

Do you have any plans on how you're going to do it so far? What are you gonna be doing for exercise? If you need an extra nudge of motivation you should check out the Success Stories forum.. they really get you going!!

Hi Megan. I'm feel your frustrations but as with what everyone else has said you will find great support. I have only been on here a day as well and with reading through other forums and posts I can see the great support. Just keep exploring and posting and I'm sure in no time you will be buddied up and seeing results.

BTW....What are your weight loss plans? Are you joining a gym? What type of diet are you working with?

Good Luck

Jacki

Default Hi

Hon, lots of us came from backgrounds that were not supportive, and grew up on food that were "clog your arteries before night time". I'm southern. I still love souther "fried everything" food, but i'm a grown-up not. I choose what I eat, not my parents. So, as bad as the habits you grew up with are, it's in your power to change them. You'e a big girl now, you are the one in controle. No one else puts the food in your mouth and makes you eat!

There are lots of other young people on the board. If one doesn't find you, you find her. Look at the other posts and respond. There are lots of people out there crying for help. take the first step and put out a hand.

Good luck to you, but actually, luck has little to do with it. It's determination and will power.
