Default Question about cravings

I have been counting calories and doing pretty good but here lately my cravings have gotten out of control. Its really a struggle each day not to eats lots of junk food but I still stay in my calorie range and I KNOW its not healthy to eat all this junk. Even though I am staying with in calorie range its not good healthy eating. So, I was wondering has anyone here ever done SBD for a few weeks just to help get rid of the cravings and then switch back to calorie counting? Did it help and did you have a weight gain when you switched over? Anyone have any suggestions?

I never tried SBD...but where is all this junk food coming from? I try to plan ahead so that junk food is more work to get than the healthy food I brought with me...I allow myself a night out once a week or so where I order something with a lot more calories than what I would cook at home. But in the house - the only junk food that is around is DH's - he only gets stuff I don't like...(I have 18 years worth of training into him). I think I got this line from MrsJim - use brainpower instead of trying to rely on willpower.

That is a good idea. Also from what I remember reading somewhere junk food cravings come from toxicities (sp) in your body, I think that if you want to do SBD P1, you really need to go into the phase 2 of it also, im sure the SBD ladies/gents will agree. It is a teaching plan, which carbs/ect to eat. If your filling your "calorie allowance" with junk, then you need to eat better to begin with, since a 1200-1500 calorie/day diet (done healthily) doesnt leave many "extra for junk" calories to begin with. So I would say journal all your eating and calculate the actual calories, if you are guestimating your cals now you may be really shocked that you are eating more cals than you guessed.

Baby carrots and sugarless gum!
I'm also going to suggest that you try fitday.com. There is a section where you can see how your nutrients are doing. If you're fitting junk food into 12-1500 cals, you'll be lacking nutrients. There's something memorable about seeing that in red numbers.
I also agree with getting the junk food out of your house.
I also have to admit that I don't know anything about SBD.
