Smile I Am Thankful For....

I realize not everyone here is American and so won't be joining in the holiday on Thursday, but I'm equally sure we all have something for which to be thankful. In that spirit, I'm sharing this, which I know has been posted before, but is most fitting over the next few days. I don't know where it originated, but you've probably all seen it before.

I am thankful for all the things that go bad to show there is reason to give thanks!

For the wife who takes over my whole bed, because I know she is at home asleep with me and not with someone else.

For my teenage daughter who is complaining about doing dishes, because that means she is at home and not on the streets.

For the taxes that I pay because it means that I am employed.

For the mess to clean after a party because it means that I have been surrounded by friends.

For my shadow that watches me work because it means I am out in the sunshine.

For a floor that needs mopping, and windows that need cleaning because it means I have a home.

For all the complaining I hear about the government because it means that we have freedom of speech.

For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking and that I have been blessed with transportation.

For the noise I have to bear from my neighbours because it means that I can hear.

For the pile of laundry and ironing because it means I have clothes to wear.

For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been capable of working hard.

For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means that I am still alive.

Ah Lord! I said, "its so easy to grumble when we should really be looking up and saying "Thank you! Thank you!"

For all that God in mercy sends

For health and children, home and friends;

For comfort in the time of need,

For every kindly word and deed,

For happy thoughts and holy thought,

For guidance in our daily walk-

For everything give thanks..!

And now, my turn.

I am thankful for my brief and horrible 1st marriage, without which I wouldn't have my son.

I'm thankful when my child argues with us, because it means he has a mind and will all his own.

I'm thankful for those 70 extra pounds, because it means I never go hungry.

I am thankful for the mountain of paperwork on my desk, because it means I have job security.

I'm thankful when I get parking tickets, because it means I have transportation.

More seriously, I'm thankful for my darling husband, who truely is my soulmate and the light of my life.

And I'm thankful for the 3 fat chicks...who have this wonderful website and all of YOU, my new, dear, understanding friends.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! What are you thankful for?

How wonderful!
My family (not religious at all) would go around the table during the entire thanksgiving meal to tell what we are thankful for -- I think a wonderful replacement of another heartfelt thanksgiving prayer.
We also do similar things at Christmas, very much a with-the-family-you-love holiday, and not a christian one for us.

I think that this is wonderful and inspirational.

I'm thankful that God is a good God and has taken care of us through this very stressful year.

I'm thankful that I was able to get my old job back and things are going well with it. I'm thankful that Alvin was able to find a job as quickly as he did, and he likes it.

I'm thankful for all of you who have 'listened" to all my problems through out the year, the business stuff and the sickness and death of my mother.

I ask for a few extra thought and prayers as we spend out first holiday without her.

I am Thankful for God who is always new every morning but is the same and never changes. I am thankful for my husband who always loves me no matter what. I am thankful for my Dad who has always taken care of me and who has been such a good example of right and wrong. I am thankful for 3FC because I think you have helped me to see that I am not alone in this world even when I feel like I am.

Be blessed and have a wonderful Thanksgiving,

Since this has been one of my worst years yet, I can't name specifics....
So I will say I am thankful for the realm of possibilities....for the possibility that my life can hold as much joy as it has saddness...and much love as it has pain...and as much wealth as it has poverty.
