Yes, I made it upstairs and not on my butt! Actually I made it using the cane and a death grip on the bannister. Terrible night of sleep because of pain but that should abate as days go on. I'm trying not to whine.

I had a spinal so don't have the aftereffects of a general anaesthetic to deal with. Today I will just rest and let friend Claire coddle me a bit. She plans to pop in and out and keep the woodstove going so I can loaf in the back room with my books, TV and a blankie and pillowie for naps.

Send me healing thoughts, OK? I have lots to do next week!

I may be back later today to read how your TGIF is going!

Good morning, Ruth!

Glad you made it thru your surgery and are home and mobile!

Please, just loaf around for the next several days. We'll still be here!

I'm taking a page out of your book--baking pumpkin bread this morning for a class I'm taking today. (I'm playing hooky from work! ) I hope I can resist eating a slice.

Hi, Ruth! Get better soon, the universe needs the force generated by your constant energy so it can keep on expanding ! But now is the time to chill and take care of you for a change. Healing vibes are being sent right at the moment!!

As far as my eating goes I've been stress eating, nothing too major just not the best choices. It's the end of the semester which is always rough plus the stress of wanting to lose weight before I go to LA is combining to make me hungry and cranky all the time. Today I will really try to rein myself in. I need to drink more water too! I have been walking about 40 min a day to campus and back so at least that's that!! What's everyone having for dinner?? I think I may make some mediterranean crutsted salmon w/ mashed cauliflower, and roasted veggies! Yummy! A friend is coming over and we're just going to hang out!

Today it's more work on my map project. This weekend will be entirely devoted to my paper and lab work. Lots to do and less and less time to do it in!! Have a great day everyone and try not to stress, I will do the same!!

So sorry to hear of your miserable night, Ruth. Take it slow and easy for the next few days so you can heal properly, and let your friends take care of you for a change.
Not too much going on here today, but I'm leaving to spend the weekend at DD's in the morning. My oldest GD, Caitlyn, has a part in her high school's play, so we're going to that tomorrow evening. Remember last weekend I said she had to be rushed to the hospital? She became severely dehydrated from a bout of the virus, but she's fully recuperated now. Well, I'm going to go see if I have the makings for that Meatball Casserole for supper. It's soooo cold, I need something warm and satisfying.

I'm trying the Indian Chicken from the new cookbook for dinner. I am substituting evap milk instead of coconut milk so it may not be as good but DH is allergic to coconut so I had to give it a try.

I spent a long time at Foley's Red Apple Sale last night buying sweaters for work. Everything I had in my closet was XL and I really needed mediums (one was a small and fit but the others looked better in a medium).

Hugs Ruthie!

We had a HUGE vistory at work on a bill my colleague and I are working on. It PASSED IN THE US SENATE! Sure, the bill itself sucks but our provisions are some good on a bad thing, which makes it less bad.

Anyway, I was up until 3a (the Senate voted around 12:40a) and into work by 9:15 and now have a 2 hour long lunch meeting.

Happy Friday!

Starting day 5 on the Beach. I weighed in this am, and I've lost 2 pounds so far. Tonight we are going to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and I love popcorn so it will be challenging for me. I will be stronger than the call of popcorn!

Good morning everyone . . .

Ruth - Thank you so much for letting us know how you made it through and for starting our daily thread. I was wondering if you would be up for it. I had a very similar knee surgery myself -- and I had a general anesthetic! You WATCHED? Whatta woman.

Barb - Wow. Medium sweaters -- how cool (and how I remember them fondly). What a fabulous weight loss! I can't wait to be able to shop again in the "regular" stores. You go, girl!

Jenn - I am so glad that you are now at a job where you feel appreciated and are making a difference in the world. Work consumes such a big part of our lives; it is so much better when we love what we do.

Pearshape - Stress eating is so much about immediate gratification...and then we do it and feel guilty and discouraged! I still do it somewhat but I try to have foods around that won't blow my plan so that I will grab them instead of something harmful.

Stagemom - You will feel SO GOOD after you get home when you have successfully resisted the popcorn!

As for me, I am still feeling encouraged by my weight loss. I don't have a scale at home because we are remodeling the bathroom and somebody threw it out I think because I can't find it. So, I only have the scale at Weight Watchers to go by. I do plan to buy a new scale because this is really frustrating but these couple of weeks without one are probably good for me.

Glad that it is Friday! We have saved this weekend with no outside plans so that we can finish up the bathroom and get started on our Thanksgiving planning.

Oh, I wanted to pass along something the WW leader said that I find very profound and helpful. She said that we want second helpings because the memory of the first was so wonderful. However, the second helping is never as good as the first taste of the item and after we are finished we don't feel good about what we have done. So, we need to remember why we crave a second helping, realize that it won't accomplish what we think it will and decide not to have it. At least for me, this is so very true, especially on Thanksgiving. After one plate of food I still feel pretty good after having normal portions, However, after the second helping, I just feel like crap

Have a great day everyone.

Morning ladies!!
Got started typing this morning and went out....
9am~4 kids on the bus, 2 preschoolers til noon thirty, Eary years play group at 10, pick up Avon display from playschool to use at market tomorrow, stop in wood craft store( having a sale), dont “need” anything but do love it there, bake pumpkin pies this aft, i have 12 boxes of Avon on the back porch(YIKES), gymnastics and Sam’s club tonight.......
I stayed up to midnight last night watching Tv, ER and then the OC, I did Avon books work during and I needed that much time to wind down. I am feeling a bit anxious in general under the surface, no real reason except my load. I am happy tho. I love my winter decoration I have up. I put dozens of window cling snow flakes on all the windows. looks like lace. The fire is roaring. Cold again!!
Must meditate and get focussed. Ohmmmmmmmmmm........ Breathe.

11:30 am~Got focussed.Feelin’ groovy.
Afte the big kids left I posted then had a toasted tomato sandwich and a bowl of mixed berries. had some quiet time with the 2 little guys, caried in the Avon boxes, went to play group, I am feelin’ fresh and ready for the rest of the day.
i am having a frozen mini pizza topped with tomato and olives and a salad for lunch.
i will bake pies and then sort out the Avon and start to bag it.
I was feeling wistful about how nice it would be to have a different kind of husband earlier this week and last night I saw why mine is just perfect for me, in spite of all the annoying man things. I am COMPLETELY, FULLY and ALWAYS my self with him regardless of what that self is and he accepts and loves me without a second thought. I speak my mind. He speaks his. There are no games on either of our parts. We are who we are and we loved as a whole person unconditionally. Pretty nice even on a bad day.

I know my food today is not South Beach and I have mostly been doing a phase 2. I only ever did phase 1 for 2 days in a row and was getting bummed. I am not losing weight but haven't really been at anything else.I am not sure where to head with this.

Beautiful Ruthie, sounds like you might be doing too much, as usual. Ruth, get thy butt upon thy cushions and don't moveth thyself until dark! Capeesh? I'm so sorry you're still feeling pain. I hope it goes away very, very soon. Are you taking pain pills? Like Ellis always reminds us (you too, I think???) pain stops healing, so take the pills and sleep them off as needed...you need to sleep anyway to heal!

You are missed and prayed for, mightily, girl! Take special care of yourself and hugs to friend Claire for doing for you what we all wish we could be doing!

Not much going on with me today...but I managed to sleep in till noon after getting up at 5:30 with DH for breakfast and dog walking. I have to jet...I'm meeting my fellow student teachers and professors from this summer at a local bar for beers and wings (them) and diet coke and celery sticks (me! ) in just an hour and I have to shower!

Have a great TGIF, chickies!

Ruth - take good care of yourself! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and all that!

Recovering today from an all-night bout of essay writing. Tired and hungry, but too tired to fix food - eventually I'll be more hungry than tired and then I will eat! Now I have yet another essay to write, this time for my BritLit class. I'll be extra thankful at Thanksgiving next week - it'll be a pleasure for my family to have a healthy, hearty meal that I don't have to cook (except appetizers)!

Hi

Its been a whirlwind for me today. Run all over the place, maybe the scale will go down

Just got back from my singing group and we're starting to rehearse Christmas Caroles,YIKES!! and it isn't Thanksgiving yet. That means I have 1 1/2 months left for me to hit my goal, ouch!! I don't think I going to make that.

Now Celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary,DH & I are going for ITALIAN tomorrow night, along with the other holidays. Why does everything have to fall at the same time of the year, with all that FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!! around ,don't think I going to make it. I only have 1 1/2 months left for me to hit my goal, ouch!!

Hugs BB
