Default Fit for Life?

Has anyone ever tried the Fit for Life diet program? My husband is interesting in trying it and I have never heard of it. He ordered the book yesterday so we'll see if I think it's something I should do. If there's anyone who has actually USED it (not just read the book), please let me know what you think about it, how it worked, and if you had success with it. Thanks!

I tried it about ten years ago, and I remember it being a very healthy program. I didn't stick with it well enough to see major results because I was in graduate school at the time and working nearly full time to boot. I was working in a children's home, so I had to eat what the kids were eating for at least one meal.

Are you referring to "Fit for Life" which was authored by the Diamonds in the 1970's? You should be able to find the book in your library rather than shelling out for it...I've read it, and while it would appear to be 'healthy' - unless it's been changed by the authors (who are divorced, as I recall, although both are still in the 'diet industry' I believe) really advocate "food combining" whose followers basically believe eating food in different combinations somehow trick the body into absorbing fewer calories than the foods actually contain - rules like eating nothing but fruit before noon, not eating protein at the same meal as carbs, that sort of thing.

Yes, Mrs. Jim, I think that's the one. Thank you for that information. I am definitely not an expert but I dont see how just combining certain foods could do the trick. (Of course, if I only eat fruit before noon, I will have already lessoned my caloric intake probably.) Guess since hubby is so interested, though, I'll at least read the book. Nice that he's motivated right now. Would be nice for us to work on this weightloss thing together.
