Default The Biggest Loser Diet Book

I was flipping through The Biggest Loser Diet book at WalMart yesterday. I was struck by how close to LAWL their program is. They only get 2 starches per day and 3 servings (about 1 cup or 8 oz) of protien per day! The only real difference was the additional 200 calories per day that they can have. However, that isn't for a candy bar. It is the calories they pull from in order to have some olive oil, sugar free jello and stuff like that!

The biggest thing is counting calories. I suppose that is what it all comes down to. Calories in versus calories out! How you go about doing that is what all these diets are all about!

Andi-

I think both diets are "South Beach"y in nature-in terms of glycemic index. That's why certain starches are not on plan even though they are approximately the same calories. Also why they don't want to eat bananas every day. I'm not sure why that isn't explained to us-instead of "it's just not on program" and that's it.

Well, the whole banana thing is a new one on me...

I'm wondering about my COD. I don't think those gals (of course there is only one left now) know anything about the program. Maybe the new crop of counselors just hired will be a little more helpful with their guidance.

Yeah-every counselor seems to have his/her own rules sometimes

BTW-i ignore the banana advice-it's my favorite fruit! And it's not hurting my weight loss . . .

You know, I cannot find catfish in my book in the protein section. I wonder if it is not on plan? Who cares, I just bought a 5 lb box of it, so I will be eating it while,op or not!

catfish isn't in mine. I went to a fish fry a few weeks ago due to Pastor Appreciation month. When I tried to create a plan with my counselor, she told me that I shouldn't eat it. I told her that these people were having this fish fry for my DH and I couldn't not eat it, it would be rude (plus I love a fish fry). She finally helped me figure out how to count it - I think it was my fat and a protien and a half.

I think its not int he book because of the fat it is supposed to have. But isn't salmon full of fat too?

I have only had catfish once since being OP. I have to have mine fried and when I tried to bake it it just wasn't the same.
