Default Weigh in at Home 11/6-11/12

Hi everyone! I am not weiging until Wednesday but thought I would start the thread since I am off today. I have a small success story to share!
Today my Mom and stepdad came over, next weekend is her bday so we celebrated today. For late lunch I made a lasagne recipe from this board for 8pts (HUGE piece!), salad (1pt dressing), and lite Texas toast (2pts). They loved it and had no idea it was "diet food."
For her birthday cake Mom wanted cheesecake, so I made this fantastic cheesecake from my Cooking Light cookbook---Vanilla Cheesecake with Cherry Vanilla topping. It's 7 points for a piece. Of course, one piece is only 1/16th of the cheesecake (the old me would have had a HUGE piece!) but I cut the whole thing into 16 slices and everyone got a "true" portion. My whole family raved that it was fantastic! That made it worth the time it took me yesterday to bake it! And, since I ate light for breakfast and this meal was both lunch and dinner, I am able to stay on my points target! This was the first time I have done that when company has come over. Usually I just make "regular" food and try to eat less of it. But now I am learning that if you have the time and make the effort, everyone can be happy eating healthier!

I am so excited now to try some of the WW holiday recipes, and I am going to make them for everyone, not just me. I can't wait to make the macaroni and cheese (I really miss that) and some of the pumpkin desserts.
I have really been dreading the holidays and all the food/desserts until today. Now I have a strategy---i am only going to surround myself with WW friendly foods, so that means my family will have to eat them too. But I have found such great recipes that I don't think they will even notice! And for our potluck dinners, my dish will be something I am actually allowed to eat!
And of course I will be going to the gym regularly, that will help.

Sorry to be so long winded. I'm just excited and looking forward to the holidays!

Hi all.

Sorry I was missing all of last week. The week just really got away from me somehow. I'll go back and read the posts to catch up later.

Rachel - Great job on handling your mom's b-day dinner. That's just awesome that you not only stayed within points, but made a delicious dinner that was healthy for everyone. I'm finally feeling like cooking (I'm actually going grocery shopping this afternoon!) and picked up an issue of Cooking Light. They have such great recipes. I haven't seen WW's mac and cheese recipe, but I have a recipe for reduced fat mac and cheese that's great, so if you end up not liking the WW recipe, I'll be happy to share mine with you.

I gained two pounds last week, so I'm working hard on getting that off. Too much take out lately, I'm afraid. It's going to be good to have a well-stocked fridge and pantry, that's for sure. We're enjoying a beautiful fall day today, so I may even get out for a walk.

Have a great day everyone.

My week was OK. Only down one pound this week and after five weeks of 4-6 pounds a week I was a little disappointed. I know part of the reason was I made bad choices for a couple meals, we went out once and then the gradson was visiting and I ate things I should have avoided!! Oh well today is a new day!!

I just find I have so much more energy now and I love it!!

Have a good week all...make GOOD choices!!

Rachel - HUGE congratulations on doing so well at your mom's b-day dinner. I have found some great recipes here and on Cooking Light. I agree - one of the keys is not to tell anyone it's "light". I'm with you - I definitely want to try some WW recipes for the holidays. The latest magazine has good ones.

Carla - Sorry about the two pounds but good for you for working hard to get it off. Did you get out for a walk today? I LOVE the fall weather.

Kristiekat - congratulations on the pound gone! Please don't be disappointed. Big losses are sort of common right at the beginning but weight loss does slow down and will likely come off at 1-2 pounds a week. It's a much healthier way to lose it.

I did not get to my meeting this Saturday. It would have been a pound gain but I just had SOOOO much work to do this weekend (the last crunch weekend) that I just didn't want to spend the time. I know, I know, I should have faced the music, but without going anywhere this weekend I worked until at least 9 pm both nights. At least the light at the end of the tunnel is right in my face. I have 3 more days of student teaching - my feelings are mixed. I love what I am doing and it will be hard to leave the kids, although I will be volunteering in a 1st grade classroom a few days a week. I'm glad too though because it's been a long haul and it's been crazy since last Spring and straight through the summer and I need a bit of a break. Of course, my break will be volunteering 2-3 days a week, researching and writing a research paper and finishing the final copy of my portfolio. Oh, and I want to get the paper and portfolio done before Nov 30th when Tony and I are going to Las Vegas.

On the eating front, while I stress ate a bit this weekend it was almost all core and I'm doing OK so far.
Time to get offline and finally relax tonight.
Have a great one!
Judy

Hi all.

Kristie - Congrats on your loss and on your terrific progress to date! You've had some impressive losses! Please don't be disappointed about your loss being just a pound. It's thrilling to rack up the 4-5 pound losses in the first weeks, but it's completely normal for your losses to rachet down as you continue on. And it's much better for your long-term success to lose at a steady 1-2 pound rate. So revel in your newfound energy and in each and every loss, no matter how big or small it is.

Judy - You're a living, breathing example of putting your nose to the grindstone. You've been some kind of busy lately. As always, I admire your discipline and dedication. Yay light at the end of a the tunnel. Enjoy your time off, such as it is, since you'll be volunteering. You deserve a break.

I'me feeling all bloated and yucky. I've lost track of when I should be starting my period this month, but based on how I feel, it should be soon. So I'm not hopeful for a great weigh-in tomorrow. I've got to somehow muster the energy to get exercising so I can get this weight off. It's a vicious circle: I need to exercise and eat right to lose the weight that will help me get rid of my sleep apnea, but I'm so tired from the apnea that it's hard to exercise, cook, etc. Ah well, I'm just going to have to make myself do it. I know I'll start feeling better after a few days of moving my butt. We've been having glorious weather here - in the 50s and 60s. I love the autumn. Maybe tomorrow morning I can get a walk in after Ana goes to school.

Have a great evening.

Default new to ww at home

Hi everyone, I was just reading the post and I just started doing ww at home no time for the meetings. I just wanted to say I really felt inspired and I hope to be able to do it this way. I have lost and gained through out the years. I keep telling myself that its ok cuss I never stop trying. So determined this time that I even went out and bought a treadmill. My kids say I will probably use it to hang clothes on it more then walking. I so don't want them to be right. So I am hoping that I find the support that I need to really really really lose weight this time without stopping again and again.

Default Hi

Hi,

I am just getting around to getting the forum this week. I lost 2 lbs last week! YEAH! My goal is to loss at least 2.5 by Thanksgiving. That will make 30. Okay still a ways to go to the end up baby steps.

I have been on the look out for holiday recipes too. My goals are the same as last week. Don't think I really ate out less last week. I completed maybe 10 min of a exercise tape last week before my sugar dropped on me.

Have a good week!

Im there....but not climbing back up yet....I just cant get the gumption. I think I am having psychotic episodes (which have to do with my eating and period...but I am not even going to resolve to change.) I am almost to rock bottom and did not get up to walk today again. Oh well. Life goes on. I will keep checking in and maybe just maybe will be able to resolve to do this thing next week. Going to the air show and know I will not be doing very well. I love you guys and know you will be rooting BUT I am just sick of myself right now. Good luck with all your losses...I am so proud of all of you!
