So I got lots of candy for the crazy little kids.. . And then I ran out, so I ran and got more.. and after that, of course, I only had a couple more kids come. So here I am, with LOTS of candy, and the only one in my house who is medically allowed to eat it, and I DONT WANT TO! (not to mention I am not a huge fan of candy anyway).
So I have this candy I spent money on, and I dont want to throw it away.. any suggestions?
Take it to work or have you husband take it to work. you could always put it in cute baggies and give it as "just because" presents to people in your life to say I love you.
That's what I'm doing. I bought two bigs bags and had not ONE kid show up. First Halloween where I'm at right now so I didn't know what to expect. My husband is going to take the whole bucket to work with him tomorrow.
Same here--I didn't know how many trick-or-treaters to expect in a high-rise apartment building, so we bought 2 bags of candy. We have about the equivalent of half a bag left. I am able to resist it for the most part (and if I DO break down and have one or 2 pieces, I include it in my calories in fitday so I can cut back in other places to make up for it), but if I find I can't resist it anymore, I will throw it away. I would rather throw away a couple bucks worth of candy than throw away all the hard work I do and have done to lose the weight
I agree with takeing it to work. Every year in the past I would take my son's to work. This year, he is older and he is all about it. he counted it and sorted it. So I think it stuck in the house. I just have to try really hard not sneak a piece. I told him to not let me have any.
We don't get a lot of kids either so we buy a box of full size bars. Now we have about 10-12 bars left. Little easier to resist because it is a bigger calorie commitment. Plus I made sure they took all of my favorite kind.
I agree with Jill. If you can't find anything to do with it and can't bring it to work or give it to neighbors or friends or whatever......throw it out! Better to waste a few dollars worth of candy then gain any weight or throw yourself off course.
OMG my son got (no joke) like 10lbs of candy!!!! I dont know what we are going to do. I hold them (my kids) on a strickt limit on how much they can consume (candy wise) each day, so between DH, DS, and DD I think they can handle most of it, but man!!! I think I will send some of it to some of my neighbors, what a good idea...since I am a SAHM, and a Sub-Teacher, I can not really take it to work and leave it in the breakroom, but that is a great idea also.
Someone on this board once posted the thought (something like this)
I hated wasting food, until someone pointed out that eating it, is still wasting it! (your body doesn't need it, and the extra energy you consume is then wasting your time and money, trying to get rid of the excess weight it causes, so really it is simpler and less expensive (time and money) to just throw it, or give it away)
I would just give it to my kids to take and share at school! (If you had kids).
Or if I couldn't get rid of it, i would bite my life long tradition of NOT wasting food and just throw it in the trash! (that statement up top was a real eye opener for me!)
