I am 24 and a SAHM, I am looking to lose 77lbs by Christmas, but will settle for atleast 50-60... Is there anyone else looking for a buddy in kinda the same situation? I know with a buddy to keep me motivated that I could do it.

Ok, I am not to rain on your parade but other than STARVING yourself...it is not possible to lose 50+lbs by Christmas.....only two months away. That is 25lbs a month.......and I hate to say it but you aren't that overweight. Not that you aren't over weight but to lose that kind? I really dont think it is feasible. That is 6.5-7.5 lbs a week. Im sorry to be so negative. Good luck on your endeavors...and I hope you succeed.

Even on a starvation or a VLCD (very low calorie diet, like medifast or optifast) you can only achieve a 4-5 pound a week MAXIMUM (excluding the first week where you can lose a lot of water weight)
so at 4 pounds a week , over 7.5 weeks that is only 30 pounds.

And although these diets do work short term (**** I once lost 100 pounds on one ) you also can gain back very very quickly as the body starts to eat real food again , your cravings will be out of control BIG time!
I have taken a step back this time (I had regained about 40 pounds after reaching my goal weight at easter!) and this time i am trying to change habits, and am happy even if the scales only say I lost one pound! One pound a week will still get me at my goal, and this time I feel healthier, and happier!
Please reconsider your goal, I am trying to lose 20 by christmas (already 6 gone) join me, I would be happy to be your buddy!

What plans are you using? are you excercising?
I try to stick under 1800 cal a day then I add some intentional excercise, though last few weeks it has been very slack. I am sick of getting myself down about my size, and this time when I get to my goal I am going to stay there!

I think I have about 30 pounds to go, but really I should aim to lose another 40-50! but I will think on that when I get there!

I will be 186 or under by christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps. what is your height?
I am 5 11 and my BMI at 170 pounds will be just under 25 (just withing the NORMAL range)

I have never really had a problem dropping weight as long as I work at it. I do pilates in the morning and night and and in the afternoon I have wither Dance Dance Revolution or I go outside and play soccor with my boys or Rollerblade while they play for about 90mins. I have cut back my eating big time, I eat breakfast (ceral or bagel) lunch (salad) dinner (what ever I make the family, just small portion).
I remember after I had my first son I lost 10lbs the week after he was born and manage to keep it at 5-7lbs a week from there till I hit my goal weight again..

My main problem is getting the motivation to do it again.. I know its a huge goal and I know I won't hit it by Christmas. I just look at the larger number and it gives me a push to keep working and not give up. I have alway set large goals for everything I do.
I do that by Christmas I would like to be atleast 20lb lighter.. Thats a lot more realistic...

Gosh, and I thought my goal of losing 12 more pounds by Christmas was going to be tough.
Good luck, I hope you can achieve the 20 lb goal and I am sure you can. If ya make it to 50, I hope you can still stand up ...........

Cheryl,
Good luck girl! 20lbs is more realistic IMHO and anything over that would be great huh? Im sorry if I sounded rude....that was not my intention. I am trying to lose as much as I can too.....family pictures and such and I am sick of just being fat. Good for you playing while the boys are playing....me? I just sit on my big fat butt. Maybe that is my problem LOL : Good luck again and keep us posted!

Cheryl,

Drop by the thread "Buddies looking to lose 20 pounds or less by Christmas" We are a happy group working hard to achieve our goal by supporting each other and cheering each other along. We are also trying to see how many total pounds we can lose as a group. We figure it will be at least 300 and I am hoping we will get enough people on board to double that amount!

We want anyone with a Christmas goal to come over there and post your loss so we can have the biggest loss possible!

Hi Cheryl,

Sounds like a good plan, I am sure you will make the 20!
I too can lose weight fairly easily, but usually I have a **** of a time staying there ! Obviously I wouldn't be here had I kept to my goal weight. But I am back here again, This time the weight loss is for KEEPS!
(Usually those that can lose weight quickly also can gain it quickly!)

Lets all get our backsides moving and reach our goals, one pound at a time......
(or maybe 2 or 3 at a time!)........................

goodluck everybody.... here's a toast to a leaner christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
