Default Trojan.Vundo virus

I recently had the Trojan.Vundo virus attack my computer. I have no idea how I got it.

It took several days and several calls to Norton (Symantec) customer service to finally get it off of my computer. It was very difficult to remove.

I was just wondering if any other 3FC members were attacked by that virus (or similiar virus---I think it is an adware virus?)

I have a cable connection and I recently heard that having a high speed connection can make you more of a target for getting a virus.

Oh no, that's awful Pookie! I haven't been attacked *knock on wood* I hate viruses ... I have high speed connection too and I've been hearing it makes us more at risk! That totally sucks! Anyway, I hope it doesn't get you again or anyone else in this group! *hugs*

I've heard of this. Everything that I have read about this indicates that it comes from clicking on a link in a spam email, not from browsing online. Plus one of our moderators had that not too long ago, after clicking a link to a site that someone had sent her. I understand it's a pain in the patooty to get rid of.

Hi Suzanne & Sunny,

Suzanne, I have also heard about that clicking on the link. I don't remember clicking on a link and I never open an e-mail from someone I don't know, but I will be much more careful about that type of thing in the future.

The virus was so smart that it was not allowing me to download the removal tool from Symantec thru my regular e-mail inbox. They had to figure a way around that. It took several days but they had me go onto one of their e-mail accounts thru Yahoo and I was able to download it that way.

Thanks, Pookie

I'm just glad you were able to get rid of it ... I don't know how they make these viruses so smart ... it's ridiculous! They don't even get to physically see the pain it causes, so really what are these "virus creators" getting out of this? Nothing ... they're idiots! lol Sorry it just really irks me!
