Starch Question?
Hi Everyone!
I was wondering if Fat free whole grain waffles were allowed. And if they are, would 1 waffle be considered 1S?
Many thanks and good luck ladies!!

it sounds pretty good. what are the calories etc on them?
The general rule of thumb is for a starch to under 100 calories.

Eryca - I don't think they're in the menu planner, but I agree with Shennie - a starch serving is about 100 cals.

You get waffles in stabilization.

Thanks for the advice! I'm actually not sure of the calorie content. I was just getting some idea together for grocery shopping.
Thanks again!

Erica - do you go to a center? you may want to check with them, too. There are some things that are allowed that are not in the menu guide. I'm not that much of a waffle fan, so I've never asked.

One Eggo Homestyle Waffle has 90 cals, 15 carbs, and 3 g of fat. Seems okay to me. Whole grain would even be better. Katie

Waffles are not on plan.
You get them back in stabilization.
If you really pay attention, one starch is not 100 calories. If it were, why would one piece of 40 calorie diet bread be one starch?

Karen, I generally agree with you, but 1/3 c of spaghetti or rice is about 70 cals. . and the mini-pitas are 80. This is just one of the inconsistencies on the plan.

My COD said that the starches can range anywhere from 40 cals (light bread) to 120 cals (2oz bagel). She told me the over all total calories for the day can very up to 500 calories on the Red plan.

okay, the waffle debate continues - they ARE in the new menu guides - 1 low fat waffle is 1 starch . . I haven't looked at the starches carefully, but there are differences from the last one - for example, 1/2 cup of brown rice compared to 1/3 cup of white rice. .

Shennie I did get it from the center - mine is corporate - it has a date of 5/05 on the back - the older one is dated 7/04.
