Default Starting Phase I on Monday, October 17?

Okay, beachers!
I'm starting phase one tomorrow (Monday Oct 17th). I've bought all my groceries for the week and I'm ready to go!
Who's going to join me? I'll need all the support I can get...and I'll give as much back.
Grab your towels and let's go to the beach!!!!!

Well, I was on phase one, but I cheated so terribly this weekend that I will be starting phase one over on Monday. It'll be nice to get back to the beach.

Default Starting the Beach

I am going to try the Beach starting today. This is probably the only diet I haven't tried yet. I had good luck when I did Atkins but after 3 months it was too boring and so I quit and gained back. This seems to not be as restrictive. I haven't gotten my book yet so am trying to use some of the info off this site to help until my book comes in from Amazon. So with everyone' help, I'm praying this one will work for me. Wish me luck.

Default Starting again!

Ok, Monday morning, here I am! I tried SB a couple of months ago- actually really liked it, and lots of choices, a diet I think I could live with. However, I fell off the beach, into an ocean of carbs...and not the good kind! I am a binge eater- not a binge and purger, just a binger! I love junk food, anything sugary and full of carbs are my nemesis.
But I also know that these carbs are the reason I can't lose weight. So today I put a picture of myself on my honeymoon on the fridge. And I have made it through breakfast and now lunch. I need to go get some ricotta cheese so I can make myself something sweet if the craving hits. I also would like to try some of the cookies etc...but I need to make just 3-4 at a time, as I am afraid otherwise I will eat them in one sitting. I am trying to drink lots of water, and have eaten more vegetables today than I probably have in the last month! (I hate salads, and not a big fan of veggies, or fruit for that matter!) So I am going to retrain myself to like salads, veggies and (phase 2- fruit) and stay away from the oh so yummy but oh so fattening junk. Wish me luck!! I am ready to make some changes- I have two little girls, and I don't want them to be obsessed with weight and eating the way I am, so I need to fix this!

Default SB and phase 1, making it work

I have found that my most successful times with South Beach, particularly Phase 1, are the times when I sat down and planned out what I was going to eat for every meal of the day.

I'm not sure if anyone else is like this - but I am *great* at making excuses for myself to eat poorly. "Oh I'm too tired to cook...hey, McDonalds is nearby!" or "I'm really stressed and can't think of something healthy to eat... hey, I can order pizza!" etc etc

So, my Sunday ritual is to write down my food 'schedule' for the week, and go to the store and make sure I've got *everything* I need. Lunch is always my worst one to get over, so I will try to make something Sunday or Monday night that I can eat as leftovers for the rest of the week.

Make this *easy* on yourself. It seems a lot of people I know who tried SB and couldn't stick with it, were the ones who tried to follow extremely complicated menus. Find the items you like that are allowed, and make your own, simple menu.

That's just my two cents.

Default Day "One" for me too.

Hello to all of you phase one folks. I am back - for my third time & I'm planning to move through this phase w/o disruption this time.

First "slip" was when my in=laws were visiting & I just could not maintain my focus. Thennnn - after they left, my focus returned & I chimed in at the end of September on the monthly weigh in goals - 7 lbs! And, thennnn the Red Cross (finally) called me and I was deployed for a few weeks as a volunteer. I find that whenever my routine gets off track, so does my diet. So, now I'm back in town, no relatives visiting & should be able to re-embrace my routine.

Good luck to everyone - it will be nice to check in re: how your first week goes.

Hi all! I am starting the beach tomorrow so I will be checking in too! I am sticking with simple things for first two weeks as that is what will be easiest for me. I figure it is just two weeks so hoping I can get through it! If not then creativity in the kitchen will then have to take place LOL! Off to the store to find as many phase one friendly items I can!

Got through my first day on the Beach. It was great! I had scrambled eggs with some black beans and salsa for breakfast. A SBD frozen dinner with tomato/cucumber salad for lunch and I found a terrific recipe for Sout Beach Taco Soup on www.recipezaar.com. This is another great place for some recipes. I also made the peanut butter cup for snack. Good day!

Whoops! South Beach Frozen dinners are to be used sparingly on Phase II. Breakfast sounds good though. That soup recipe looks good. Just be sure the Taco Seasoning does not have sugar, OK?

In case I haven't yet ..... and to The Beach!

The dinner I had said Phase I on the back. It was just meat and veggies. The taco seasoning did not have any sugar in it. It was homemade by my sister-in-law and she doesn't add sugar to hers. But thanks for the tips. I just got my SB book today, so I was doing the first day totally by this forum. That was another reason for doing the frozen dinner. It was something quick until I could knuckle down and learn the rest. Lost two lbs. And I know it wasn't water because I had already done my water loss last week doing some other things. I really enjoy the features of this site.
