Default Slow computer problems..

My computer is very, very, slow to load anything to do with 3 fat chicks website, I have dial-up and it just takes forever to look at each individual question/comment people make. Is it just my computer or is everyone else having this problem too? My computer is about 4-5 years olds so it could be mine, but the other websites don't do it but this one and this is my favorite site, just wondering if anyone else is having problems or has had problems and how do you fix it.

Thanks in advance.

We have just upgraded our computer and internet connection, but with my old computer (which was SOOOOOOOO slow) it was helpful to disable the signatures and avatars when viewing on big forums like 3FC..

So go into your User CP (top left on the purple banner)... click on Options on the left hand side (I think it maybe edit options) and then at the bottom of the page is some boxes with ticks in them to view all of the avatars and signatures and stuff.. so if you unclick them.. and the save the changes at the bottom that should help with the speed when opening - but you will get a basic format.

Hope that helps.

Yep I just checked it is under the *edit options* function... then about 2/3 the way down that page there is a section called *Thread display options* and the ticks are in the section called *visible post elements*

Try running some spyware and adware removal software. Adaware.com has a free version. My comp is 5 yrs old with a not too impressive RAM and processing speed but I have no trouble on a dialup modem. If your computer has tons of junk on it that could really slow the speed down.

If you go to download.com you can get free adaware or spybot. those are utilities that get rid of all the junk we get from the internet (without knowing it) that enables advertisers to keep track of what sites we visit. it is easy to install and run. most people have seen a real improvement in their internet speed after installing either of those.
