Welcome! You certainly may join. All are welcome.
Walking is wonderful. How are you keeping track of your calories? Notebook? fitday.com? ....?

Hi I wanted to welcome you! I'm a newbie to this board as well, but not to weight loss

I just wanted say it can be done!! My all time high in 2001 was 259 pounds , and I'm only 5 foot 3 inches tall. I lost over 120 pounds (i'm back to lose 20 I put back on ) but most of that had to do with a huge change in my life style. Find a way of eating ( I hate to use the word diet ) that works for you and stick to it.
I lost all my weight doing Atkins, but this time around I'm just doing the good ol' fashion calorie and fat counting and so far it's been working. I'm down 6 pounds since the first of the month.
Find a support system ( like a message board ) and use them frequently. Ask questions, ask for support, we have all been in the same boat.
Most important, ( which I see you are starting to do ) is get moving, even if its only a walk down road, or a short walk in the park, every step counts! It will be hard at first but over time, it will get eaiser and you will actually start to enjoy the exercise!

Good luck!!!!

As far as breastfeeding, it is simple calories in vs. calories out. Breastfeeding uses up many calories in milk production, but if you are still consuming more calories than you need each day, you won't lose weight.

What calorie level are you going with? At 315 you can probably start out at 1800 calories, and continue losing on that level for a while. There is no need to drop them any lower for at least a little while.

Mama-rather than switching to 1500 after a month, my recommendation is that you stick with 1800 until you stop losing. At your weight you should be able to lose for quite a while on that calorie level with continued walking. When you stop losing, drop down SLIGHTLY to maybe 1650. Only drop when it is necessary-when your loss slows down to less than 1/2 pound per week.

Change your calorie level based on your weight loss, rather than a date on the calendar.
