Hi I wanted to welcome you! I'm a newbie to this board as well, but not to weight loss
I just wanted say it can be done!! My all time high in 2001 was 259 pounds , and I'm only 5 foot 3 inches tall. I lost over 120 pounds (i'm back to lose 20 I put back on

) but most of that had to do with a huge change in my life style. Find a way of eating ( I hate to use the word diet ) that works for you and stick to it.
I lost all my weight doing Atkins, but this time around I'm just doing the good ol' fashion calorie and fat counting and so far it's been working. I'm down 6 pounds since the first of the month.
Find a support system ( like a message board ) and use them frequently. Ask questions, ask for support, we have all been in the same boat.
Most important, ( which I see you are starting to do ) is get moving, even if its only a walk down road, or a short walk in the park, every step counts! It will be hard at first but over time, it will get eaiser and you will actually start to enjoy the exercise!
Good luck!!!!
