Default Oprah or Ellen?

I'm not sure if the schedule is the same for most of us, but Oprah is on at 4pm on CBS in my area. Starting this week, Ellen DeGeneres is on at 4pm on NBC.

Are you a fan of either one? Who do you prefer?

I don't always watch Oprah but do occasionally. I like her human interest stories and Surprise days as well as Nate's decorating but I'm not into the celebrity interviews.

I have never been a fan of Ellen - I jus't don't find her that funny I have tried to watch the show a couple of times but just can't get into it.

I don't really like Oprah, I find her abrasive and sanctimonious. I have not seen Ellen's talkshow, but I would probably watch that one b/c it sound like the old "Merv Griffin" type of show like Rosie O used to have. But I am at work when both of them are on so I do not watch either of them.

Actually, the only time I watch Oprah is if someone here tells me she's covering a good topic. I don't normally have the tv on that time of day. But I have caught some of Ellen's shows on late at night (on the Oxygen network) and thought she was really funny. She keeps winning Emmy awards, so when I heard she was going to be on at the same time as Oprah, it made me wonder how the viewers would react. It might be interesting

The one talk show that I do make a point of watching is Craig Ferguson, at 12:30am, after Letterman. He's hysterical! And I'm particularly impressed that he regularly makes a point of saying women should have a little meat on their bones, lol.

Neither. I prefer Jerry Springer. I like seeing how the other half lives.

I don't watch either often, but if I do it's Oprah. I can't stand Ellen Degenerate.

I love Oprah, I dont find her abrasive or sanctimonious. I think she tells the truth, but she always does it with tact. She makes me smile when I think of what she has come through.

I'm way too emotional for Oprah and don't want to use up all my Kleenex in one show, so I stick to Ellen. That is, if the little ones will let me watch it, we're usually in full-swing in coming in from walking to get my DD off the bus and going to the post office and 4pm is a bit hectic around here...and my DS (4yr old) usually sneaks on Nickelodeon and Ellen comes and goes without me even knowing it was on.

And Ellen strikes me as the type that I could get along with famously. My MIL used to work in wardrobe in the studios and she'd tell me how different stars were to work with and around. I imagine Ellen would be one that would be fabulous and easy going with my MIL.

Kittie: My mom calls her Ellen Degenerate, too. I don't know why it is for you, but my mom calls her that because she's...well...unconventional?...in her private life.

Oh...and my FAVORITE talk show host is Conan. I just die laughing at him. I love the skits, mostly.

I've only ever seen a few minutes of Ellen, and thought she was not doing a very good job of trying to be funny, but maybe she's improved since then. Oprah I watch sometimes but mostly just because the topics/guests are interesting, not because I like Oprah that much (her magazine is good too). Yesterday she really bugged me because she had too many guests in one show, and she had this Pulitzer Prize-winning author on and only let him say one sentence before she cut him off and they went to the commercial and the next guest. Like, why bother having him on if you're not going to talk to him? Geez.

Usually I don't watch either though because I'm usually still at work/school at 4pm! I do watch Dr. Phil all the time though.
