Default Hi All! I'm new

Hello! I found this site today and thought it might keep me on track for a healthier me. I am not overweight I am 5'4" tall and weigh 145. My goal weight is the weight I was before I had my kids. If I can't get there then just a leaner toner healthier me will be just fine.

I started trying to lose weight in May (or late April can't remember) I was at 160lbs and having trouble with a rapid heartbeat so decided it was time to get on track. I started by just fixing myself what I normally would eat and then just ate half of it then stopped.

Once I had that down I went to counting calories allowing myself 1700 a day.
Now this month I have started my exercise. I do Yoga 30min one day then 15 the next then 30 then 15 (you get the picture) and I do it 6 days a week.

I also have myself on weekly nutrition goals.
This week it is No sweet tea and No Koolaid...last week was cutting back coffee ( I went from 6 cups a day to 2 cups a day). So far so good this week, only had my 2 cups of coffee a day, tomato juice and water.

Hope to get to know everyone better and Good Luck with all your goals!!

Welcome girl...sounds like you've got a good plan to start with. Have you thought at all about adding strength training? Nice to meet you

Amanda

Welcome to the boards! I would second Amanda's thought about adding strength training especially if your goal is to tone up. Also cardio sessions a couple times during the week would be helpful, even just walking. Don't get me wrong, yoga is great but I see it as a balance (flexibility, strength and cardio)

Default Thanks for the welcome

Hey girls thanks for all the welcomes. Yeah I have thought of strength training and have bought a couple more DVDs to exercise by. I love Denise Austin so i got her Pilates for everybody and Shrink Your Female Fat Zones. Plan to add them to my workouts since my yoga is more for my mind than my body (4 and 5 year old kids here STRESS CITY).
Also once the kids scoot off to school (8 days and counting) I plan to add a one hour walk or bike ride to my day. Don't get my post wrong I live for my kids. But have you ever tried to power walk or ride a bike for fitness with a 4 year old girl who stops to pick EVERY wildflower or a boy who never meets a stranger? LOL we get stopped a million times it seems in a one hour walk.

did real good last night, I was at 1500 calories (limit for me is 1700) and hubby brought me my regular snack of a 3 musketeers and a mountain dew and instead of having all of both as i normally would I had half of each and stayed below my limit

Have a great day all!

Sounds like a good plan, especially once you add in a little extra cardio. I have two nephews 5 and 7, and I can imagine it is hard trying to focus on getting a lot done with two little ones around.
Welcome!!
