How much Peanut Butter is allowed on phase #1? I of course mean the all natural with just nuts and salt. I have come to really like this stuff and my recent snacks have been 2 spoonfuls of pb and a little cool whip.
Dont yell, I have ordered all the SBD books and they are on the way!! I am sorry if this is info in the book! Thanks for the help as always!!
Hey there KimberlyHeidi. Peanut butter is limited to 2 tablespoons a day. Also your cool whip is limited to 2 tablespoons a day and should be the cool whip lite or fat free. Check out the Phase one list here. It will really help with some of your question until you get your books. I put a link to it below if you have been having trouble finding it.
Heh, well I totally went overboard on the peanut butter last night. Peanut butter and peanut butter cookies. I even knew the limit, I just had a very out of control period- see "binge foods". Oh, the shame! Oh, the horror! No more peanut butter for me, it's just TOO tempting and I can't seem to stop.
Oh no... I have been a very bad girl then. I have about 3 spoonfulls of pb and cool whip and then nuts too =(
Guess I know now and will be more careful. Thanks!
Darling- The PB I thought I would have no problems with since I hate natural PB. But once I tried it again after starting SBD it was all over and I loved it. So I have been having spoonfuls of it with ff cool whip. It was so yummy. So now I guess I will have to limit it more =(
I know what you mean, Kimberly! I HATED natural peanut butter, but I guess when you're desperate, it doesn't matter whether it has sugar or not- especially when you sweeten it up with cool whip or splenda. I'm going to try and just go without for a while, and see if my cravings dont go away. For me, the more I eat it, the more I want it!
almonds are good, but i prefer soynuts. i like the fact that a serving size is 1/3 cup and that's like hundreds of little nuts to crunch on as opposed to just 15 or 30 tree nuts. It's half psychological, and i can really prolong the snack eating just a couple at a time and enjoying the salt and texture and satisfying that need so i dont eat chips!
Store your natural PB upside down until you're ready to stir. This way all the liquid is at the bottom and slowly comes back up making your stirring less messy.
Has anyone tried Skippy's Natural Style PB yet? Supposedly there's no need to stir it. I looked at the list and it just lists peanuts, salt, and palm oil. I know palm oil can be saturated but the sat. fat is not higher than the other natural PB's, about 3 g/serving.
Pear- THANKS for the tip! Smart thinking! I looked at the skippy's natural and it had some kind of starch or syrup or somthing, I THINK that prevented me from buying it because it didn't look SBD friendly.
I thought about trying some of the new PB options out there- no sugar added, carboptions, skippy's natural, simply jif, etc. I looked at them and a lot of them were clear on the sugar, it was just the oils.
But I read an article about peanut butter that said although they contain partially hydrogenated oils, the amount in it is so small that is is ten times less than the FDA's standard for being "trans fat free." So, I think it would be okay to buy some of those, but then again, I have a peanut butter weakness, so I decided it would be safe to stick with the kind that was least like the sugary stuff I've been buying for quite some time. I just thought I'd put in my two cents there though. I avoid trans fats and check for them, but I already have very very good cholesterol (being a vegetarian most-of-the-time-health-nut helps!) so I would risk it if it's that miniscule of an amount. IMHO, of course!
Storing your natural peanut butter upside down is an excellant way to make it easier to stir. I buy several jars at a time because I only go to Trader Joes once a month.
I keep turning them over every few days. That way they are sort of mixed when you need to open them.
I do better with natural peanut butter then with the regular, when I first started I wanted to use up the peanut butter I had in the shelves before I got the healthy stuff. Oh my gosh, I ate way too much of it in the beginning. After I switched to natural, I found it much easier to control serving sizes.
