Question Bad Eating or the Flu

OK so I have question for you long timers. This last weekend I had two 60th birthday parties to go to. The first one was on Saturday and we were suppose to be there by 4:30 for dinner.

I was bringing a veggie tray and dip so I didn't eat anything before we went figuring if we were a little late eating I could snack on the veggies. OK so we finally had dinner at 7:00pm. By then I was starving having had lunch at noon. Of course I didn't portion control and ate things I knew I shouldn't be having (potato agrautin & two pieces of cake). Was feeling pretty crappy when we left for home at 10:00 (we are usually in bed by 8:00-9:00). But woke up on Sunday feeling pretty good.

So I figured I didn't do to bad. Sunday the party was at our house and I made mostly OP dishes. However, I guess I was still feeling the effects of Saturday's binge and ended up eating to much once again and another 2 pieces of cake (big pieces this time).

I had been feeling really tired the whole week before this weekend. And up until that week I had been feeling fine.

When I woke up Monday morning I was so sick I missed work and spent the whole day with diarea, nausia, and a major headacke. I was still sick enough on Tuesday that my boss sent me home. I slept most of the day Monday and a good portion of the day Tuesday. Wednesday I started feeling better and by Thursday I was feeling fine.

So my question to you chicks is, have any of you felt that way when you eat really badly? Or do you think I did have a bug and the bad eating and late hours over the weekend just brought it to a head? Oh and by the way I am down another 5 pounds as of this morning.

I just don't understand and any words of wisdom or just rambling mumbles would be appreciated.

Food containing saturated/trans fats have always caused me to have that problem (at least the last 10 years or so). I just thought it was normal until I started South Beach and the problem went away. I once ate something with some fatty oils (not olive or canola) and the problem was back with a vengeance., If anything it was worse because I had been eating healthy.

If I ate what you did, the cake probably wouldn't have bothered me but the butter in the potato augratin would have. I guess if the cake was too rich it probably would have.

I just take it as a lesson that I should stay on plan as much as possible and when I do decide to have cake, I make it a small piece.

Did you ever get affected like this before South Beach?

I would say it was the food, Karla. Although it did last rather a long time...
I've had the same experience in the past with eating badly. Sometimes my stomach churns with just the first bite.
I agree with Barb. You know what you did wrong... just treat it as a learning experience and move on.
I think that in a situation like that... where you don't know when you're going to be eating... I would keep something in my purse to snack on. It's essential that you don't go without food for too long... it's too easy to binge when you're really hungry.

Karla, it's lasted a long time, so I'd wonder if it might be a bug. But if it had lasted only the morning or just one day, I'd definitely suspect the food. It can do that to me too. I get all kinds of sick if I binge like that.

Like Barb and Ellis wisely said, let this be a lesson that you learn from. I know what you mean about getting into that situation (where you think you'll eat, but don't want to be the only one if everyone waits). In times like that, I always eat a snack-size portion of dinner before. Then, I don't have to stress if they don't have a lot that I can eat; I can just eat what I've brought and plan on having more, if I need it, when I get home. And always keep a handful of soynuts or a cheesestick in your purse, just in case.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks chicks. I'm thinking it was a comibnation of both because the rest of my family is sick now too. I just think it got to me early because I was tired and had eaten so badly.
