Thumbs up Shake What Your Mama Gave You 7/11 - 7/17

Hello all, and welcome to a new, fun-filled week of sweat, heavy breathing, and happy sighs after having accomplished the deed! Yes, that's it.....just what you were thinking: EXERCISE!! I speak here of cardio and weight-training; yoga, dance, and pilates. You know what I'm talking about!

I'll start: I biked for 22 minutes on my exercise bike, going a little over 5 miles. For most of it, I'm biking 15-16 mph. I'm not able to do my old HIIT intervals routine of 23 mph spells; for now, this is great for me. I'll get it back, bit by bit!

So, peeps, if it's or -- whatever you're doing.....let us know right here. Sing it! Sing it proud!

Well that's not what I was thinking when I read your description but I'll stay on topic here. LOL I started this weekend out wanting to really get back into exercise. I went with my buddy for a bike ride on Saturday. We were going to go 7 to 10 miles out and then come back. Well 5 miles out he had a blowout and had to ride my bike back to the truck and pick me up. I can't walk to well so walking back was out of the question. So that day was a bust.

Then yesterday I went to the YMCA's outdoor pool to get some laps in. I always wear my shirt just because I'm embarrassed of all the skin I have. They always understood inside and let me do it. Outside I was told you have to stay in the shallow end if you wear a shirt. So that made that day a bust.

So today I did it all. I went to the Y and did 1/2 hour of laps in the pool then 15 minutes on the bike and then did the weight machines. I feel great. Sure does feel good to do something.

Howie: What's the big deal about you wearing a shirt in the pool? Why do they restrict you to the shallow end? This makes no sense to me....

Yes me either. They seem to think it's going to come up over your head and drown you. I can see maybe restricing kids from wearing baggy shirts in the pool but I tuck mine in once I'm in and believe me I'm not going to let it come up over my head. LOL

Just as Howie’s i rode my bike on Sunday. Did 60 Km on nice country roads….had to sprint the last 15 km due to thunderstorm building up….my legs are just finished today!!! Luckily, our massage therapist at work will try to fix things up before I leave.

I’m also rod my nike bike to work today, and plan to do so tomorrow and Thursday.

On Wednesday and Friday, I will do laps at the pool. Cannot wait to go camping so I can do laps in lakes…..quite different and far more relaxing

Howie, I totally understand you regarding loose skin. As I’m down at 245 from 335, I’m starting to get some as well….

Ps. Howie: you can avoid the inconvenience of flat tires if you buy puncture proof tubes. They are much more thicker than the conventional ones. They sell them at good bike stores

That is what my friend said he was going to do. They are both his bikes. I want to get one but I need to get a shed first. I was going to buy a bike off my friend but decided not to because of lack of storage.

I am a WW-Repeater - rejoined last week for the 44th time! And needless to say, in-between my trips back to WW's I completely slacked off on all exercise. But I'm happy to say that I did 5 miles on the exercise bike tonight!! Of course it took me 30 (ok, 31) minutes to go that 5 miles, but I'll take it.

I do not remember exercise!
I must start something.. must....

Lifting Eli over my head over and over (to make him laugh) just about kills me..that's how bad it is. Maybe he's laughing because my face turns red

Talking

So far today I've done Leslie's WATP 1-mile, minus the weights. Woo hoo!! Hello, Leslie, my old friend.... It was a real challenge for me, but I did it! I'll work up to my old 3# hand weights, but for now, I'm just so excited that I was able to finish it the mile!!

Later on this afternoon, I'm going to do my standard 20 minutes/5 miles on the exercise bike.

My goal for this week is to do 40 minutes of cardio every day, and 3 full body weights workouts (around 45 minutes to an hour apiece.) I expect the scale to stay put initially with water weight, which will be a bummer, but I know it's absolutely the best for my health, strength, stamina, and dress size! And I'm sure the scale will comply soon enough.

Howie, that's CRAZY about the shirt/shallow end thing! Of all the poor judgment calls made in the name of upholding policy, that one has to be the worst I've heard of. So absolutely ridiculous. I would suggest scheduling a meeting with a supervisor, so you can sit down and discuss it rationally with someone who can make a decision. Explain your medical issues and dependency on the use of their pool, but don't mention that they've been letting you do it at the inside pool, just in case the supervisor the supervisor doesn't see reason. You wouldn't want them to put the kabosh on it! I'm really sorry you have to deal with this bureaucratic stupidity, but I know that with your charm and diplomacy, you'll get them to make the saner call.

Back to report that I did do the 20 minutes on the exercise bike, and went not 5 but 5.25 miles!

I'm very pleased with myself, with my 40 minutes of cardio today!

I am going to talk to the person in charge of the pools. So we will see how it goes.

Today was day two of my new lifestyle. I don't know if I mentioned it in any other thread but I am going to start working to become a Personal Trainer. In order to do that I need to get myself in the best shape possible. So that means hitting the Y every weekday and maybe even Saturday. I am going to buy the material off of a local woman who sells everything you need to study and pass the ACSM Certified Personal Trainer test. The material is only $50. I'm not sure how much it will be to take the exam but I will find out. I plan on doing it next spring. That is my goal for being at my goal weight and I am hoping to be physically fit by then but that may take more than six months. So we will just play that by ear.

Anyway today I did 15 minutes on the bike then 5 on the elliptical and then another 15 on the bike. No wights today that is on Mon, Wed and Fri. It was the first time on the elliptical and I liked it. It will take a while to build up but man what a good work out.
