Default Okay... that's it...

My husband hid the scale from me, but I stumbled upon it in the garage... Not a very good hiding place when it is just on the floor next to a wall. I gained a pound. I just need a good start! I am in this for the long haul, but I would love a big push in the right direction.

I am going to cut out all carbs except veggies for two weeks (kinda like an Atkins induction). The way I have been eating has been heading in that direction, but I am just going to do it and see if it gives me the boost I need. If that doesn't work, then I am going to have to mess around with my calories a bit until I find something that has me losing 2 pounds a week.

I know what you are all going to say... and I understand. I just need to see the scale move and to feel my pants fit better. I am tired of wearing sweats and sweat shorts!

Oh forget it... Nevermind. I am not starting Atkins. I had a moment of panic and anger due to the darn scale. Why in the world would I cut out foods that are healthy and good for me and my heart, like fruits, oatmeal, and whole grains?

I am upset that I am not seeing more positive feedback from the scale, but I know that I am doing things right. I am exercising every day, watching my calories, cutting out sugar and processed foods, and replacing bad saturated fats with healthy fats.

I guess I have to trust what I am doing and wait for the results.

I know it is frustrating to get hung up on the scale. Actually, have your husband hide the scale and only let you have it every couple of weeks...and make it an "event" with him watching. It could be kindof fun...maybe my husband and I should do that.

Ugh. I know how you feel. I cannot weigh more than once a week or it can really mess with my mind and eventually my progress.
Kudo's to you for hanging in there!

I have a similar routine. I only weigh myself on the two weekends directly after my period. Otherwise, I see all these water retention bloat pounds creeping back on - which puts me in a bad head place and is likely to trigger a binge (stupid, huh?)

So when it's one of those "ok-to-weigh" days, he reads the scale for me. I have never really been to shy about my weight with him (at my skinniest when we first met I still outweighed him by 50+ pounds ), and I can always count on his support.

One note, you may want to weigh yourself every Saturday for about a month to help you figure out how much water you retain (on average) for your period. This can range from 2 - 9 pounds for most women (I avg between 5-8).

This also holds true for post menopausal women, as many times we continue to cycle our water retention even after Aunt Flo has passed on .
