Thumbs up Shake Your Groove Thing 7/4 - 7/10

Hey all, sorry I wasn't here yesterday -- I was with Lorraine in the hospital! It's a long story, I'll post it in the chat thread, but I'll just say that it was very scary, and that she's ok and out now. So I wasn't here yesterday to start up this thread for the new week! So NOONE exercised yesterday???? Or noone announced it? I sure hope it was the latter!

I didn't end up exercising when I was away all weekend -- I really had a lot of trouble with my breathing, and while I had access to an elliptical and could have walked outside, both of them are weight-bearing exercises, and that's where I run into trouble at this point. No breath!!

This morning I did 20 minutes on the exercise bike -- another 5 miles.

How about you guys?????

I exercised as well! I'm quite proud of it too... lol... Sunday I hiked up a mountain, 3 km's total, but 3 HOURS total! It was pretty much straight up, and the walk down sure got those leg muscles working!

Monday I did some abs and some arms, but it was HOT! I'd say around 32 degrees plus that ol' humidity. Today my exercise will probably consist of lounging in the sun

Sarah - Hope you and Lorraine are both OK - and thanks for getting us started on this thread, in the midst of all your traumas/challenges! If that doesn't get us going, nothing will....

OK, so I confess I do not have my act together on the exercise front right now, or for some while. What I can most easily bring myself to do is a) walk (part of my journey to/from work, so pretty much part of my daily routine during the week b) swim. So I can going to try and do both of those regularly for the next couple of weeks, after which I will start building in some weights....

Saturday: 30 min swim
Sunday: 45 min aquarobics (by mistake....was planning to swim, but the class was starting when I got in the pool, so I figured I should just join in! It was fun...)
Monday: 35 min walk
Tuesday: 40 min walk

Hopefully be able to make it to the pool again tomorrow.....

I need to get my backside in gear and start doing more than having walks. Joining a gym is not an option, neither is swimming, so I've ordered some videos from the library to check out--a couple on belly dancing and a couple on yoga, both for beginners, of course.

I used to love doing step aerobics even though I was a sweaty mess at the end of the workout, but I chucked my beloved Reebok step on the tip before I emigrated. I figured it had already been gathering cobwebs in the shed for donkey's years, and I wasn't going to take it 4,000 odd miles just to substitute Canadian spiders for English ones!

I should've kept it though....

It's been many years since I did any exercise, bar walking and a little cycling, so I know I'll have to start out slowly. When the vids come in, I'll pop here and let you know how I get on. Truth be told, I'm really quite nervous....

Did my Tae Bo Ultimate Fat Blasting DVD today right after my 8 Minute Moves.
I think it is time to pick up the resistance bands to use while doing the video because the arm work segment is getting waaaaaaaay boring without!
Think I want to get the Tae Bo Ultimate Fat Blasting Cardio DVD too. Look for it next week when I'm in Half Priced Books (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that store!). Got a whole list of stuff to look for while I'm there.

I did my upper body weights yesterday, I hurt today, so I must have done it right!!! I hurt most under my boobs along my chest muscles!! Who knew I had muscles lurking under there??? And I did 30 lengths of the pool. AND I went to the gym at lunch and did eliptical and fitball to help my poor fat tummy, which seems to be staying fat. And dear fiends, it's 7 in the morning, I am up breakfasted and off to the gym, toodle loo!!!

Bought some 5 lb hand weights today. (Did I just type that?! I bought what?!?)
Will need them for the exercises in the book I borrowed from the library; the original "8 Minutes in the Morning". Will be fun to try them out in the morning.

Bike ride to work 3 times this week: so that's 6 hours bike

Also, on hour laps at the pool...

Week-end calls for showers Saturday and uncertain for Sunday, so i guess laps at the pool will be on the menu...

I have been skipping my cardio workouts again. I had been on a roll and doing cardio 5 or 6 days a week. I want to get back to that so to build up my stamina so I can try sparring at a Tae Kwon Do tournament this fall.
Still doing really well each day doing my 8 Minute Moves and am noticing some nice new muscles. Tried out the exercises from the book I borrowed with my new weights today!

I walked to the library and picked up a bellydance video for beginners yesterday. It's an arms and abs one. I watched it a couple of times first to get an idea of what I had to do, and then did the warm up, watched it again, and practised the movements. I looked and felt about as graceful as a dancing hippo!

Anyway, I persevered and did the whole thing--including the initial stretches again--and was surprised to actually get all the way through to the end.

I can feel a slight ache in my obliques and traps this morning, but nothing really significant considering how long it's been since I worked any muscles. I expected to hurt more....

I'm just going to get a good walk in today, and tomorrow I'll check out the Yoga for Weight Loss vid I also got. Can yoga really help with weight loss...?

I did my 8 Minute Moves and 45 minutes of Tae Bo today. Works out best for me to do it all right away in the morning but I have to get up an hour earlier each day-Blech!
