I did Curves a few years back and really enjoyed it. You definitely lose inches and its a fast and easy workout. I eventually quit because my hubby went nights and I didn't want to leave my son home alone so we ended up joining the YMCA. I'm not sure how much it is now, but I thought it was worth the money.

I tried Curves back in September 2003. The price was right, and it seemed like something I could do.

I really enjoyed Curves, and went steady for about four months. I didn't really lose any inches, or weight, but it felt great just to be doing something. Plus the women who go there are wonderful! It felt great to go somewhere, where you weren't thinking about being judged!

Good luck with Curves! I'm sure you will really enjoy it!

The good side: It gets you going. It's a start.

The bad side: It gets boring. Routines are not good for doing weights. Those type of machines aren't as good for you as dumbbells or free weights.

Put your money aside for some adjustable dumbbells. They are your best bet.

I joined Curves in January and have been enjoying it a lot. I've managed to go 2-3 times a week every week since I started. Recently, I started going for an hour instead of just 30 minutes. The major thing about Curves, for me, is that since I joined, I have went *off* all prescription pain meds and antidepressants .. I don't even take tylenol anymore, except maybe once in a while. My physical therapist is the person who recommended Curves to me. Its definitely a good place to get started.. and its easy and quick. Now that I have built up some strength (and I don't always HURT anymore) I do other workouts during the week in addition to going to Curves - swimming, treadmill, free weights, aerobics, and walking the dog (when its not so hot out).

[Edit]

PS. When I first started going there, I started losing weight, but then in February I had to be put on 300mg of seroquel b/c I had a bad reaction to this other medicine (Adderall) that I had been taking. The seroquel has made me gain a lot of weight ... However, I recently had it tapered down to just 75mg and I actually have lost 10 lbs finally.. this week I am getting another taper, so I hope to continue and see more weight loss/control over eating urges.

I really think that I would look much, much worse right now if it weren't for consistantly working out at Curves. And I know that working out is good for me, too.. so it makes me feel good to go there on a regular basis.
