Exclamation Earning a new belt-I hope!

I am so excited/nervous! Tomorrow, (well actually today it's 1 am already!) I am testing for my orange belt in Tae Kwon Do at 7:30 pm. If you can make it, you're ALL invited!Sorry for the short notice-LOL!
I'm so nervous, our Master instructor will be here, all the way from Minnesota (a 6 hour drive!) and he's the one testing us. YIKES! I'm pretty confident about Kicking, 1-Steps, 2-Kick and 2-Punch. But my pattern makes me nervous not to mention BREAKING! To earn my orange belt, I have to break a board! So nervous, I've never had to break anything (on purpose anyway ) before!
Going to be such a ball of nervous energy tomorrow; hoping to utilize all my extra energy to get the house in tip-top shape. We've spent most of our free time at the beach the last week so the house needs some serious work!
Anyway, best get off the 'puter and try to sleep.

Default Woo hoo!!

WOW!!! I'm so excited for you! You know, it's a huge accomplishment just to have gotten this far -- I've read what you've written about this, and I'm just so impressed with you. Not only did it take a lot of guts to start, but you've stuck with it and have really increased your strength and skills! I'm sure you're going to do beautifully -- and you're going to kick that board's ***! (THERE, I've said it! )

I'll think of you at uh, what is it, 9:30 my time?

She's in Wisconsin, Jen. I have it in my head that it's 2 hours earlier there than on the east coast (although I haven't checked it out.) If she tests at 7:30 tonight her time, that would put it at 9:30 our time. Of course that's assuming I'm right on the 2 hour thing.

I think Wisconsin is on central time, which would only be 1 hr difference from Eastern time....

Unless you live in Indiana or Arizona, where the clocks don't change...I am from Indiana, and it has been weird to have to "springforward" or "fall back"!

TK Mom, you'll have to come by and tell us how you did! Incidentally, I've always wanted to take a martial arts class... seems like so much fun -- and empowering at the same time!

Talking I'm officially an Orange Belt!

Took me three tries to break my board, but I did it! Master Lee said all the white belts should keep these boards as the first board you ever break is called your "confidence board" and whenever you feel like you "can't do ___!" to look at your board and know that YOU CAN! I thought that was awesome and applied to my weight loss adventure as well as Tae Kwon Do.
Here's a picture of all of the instructors and students. I'm the first one on the left. The little girl in the middle with the blond hair is my daughter, she earned her orange belt too!
The class from back left:
Me (orange belt), Cam (orange belt), Mr. Miles (Jr. Instructor-1st Dan or Degree Black Belt), Ms. Annette (Head Instructor-2nd Dan Black Belt), Al (orange belt), Liz (yellow belt), Mr. Ryan (he is the highest ranking student in the school with a Purple Trim Belt-3 belts away from a Black Belt!), Master Lee (Our Master Instructor-he will be testing in Korea this September for his 7th Dan Black Belt. Afterwards he will be refered to as Grand Master Lee)
In the front row from the left:
Mitch (orange belt), Morgana (orange belt and my daughter), Jenna (orange belt) and Casey (tested for his yellow belt but had trouble with his break, had break two boards in a row although not at the same time. He is only 5 and was so upset he didn't earn his belt! Will retest on Thursday. Felt so bad for him. He'll get it on Thursday I bet.)

Yup, in Wisconsin. We are on central time, 1 hour different than eastern time as Jen said. We do have to deal with the "daylight savings time" which is a HUGE pain in the butt!

Did great! Photo and more info in an earlier reply. Just wanted to encourage you to take up a martial art. I'd taken karate (Japanese martial art while TKD is a Korean martial art) for a short time while in high school and loved it! I was so happy to find something in my town and my price range. Been having the best time at it and learning to kick some A$$! Most schools will let you try out a class for free before you sign up.

Congratulations. I used to do jiu jitsu many years ago, and loved it, the only thing my ex-husband and I did together. But now I have no one to do it with, I have given up. I'll look into taking it up once things have settled down.

You look great all dressed up, and your daughter is just the cutest. Well done!!!
