Three of Britain’s fattest families go stomach to stomach in a bid to win a luxury holiday. We join three hugely overweight families as they embark on the toughest journey of their lives: an attempt to shed those pounds for good.
Assisted in their quest by three tough-talking diet and fitness experts, the families are forced to give up their usual unhealthy diet in favour of a strict new low-fat, low sugar regime, swapping toffee for tofu and the sofa for the gym.
With surprise raids on their homes and cameras following their every bite, the families have nowhere to hide. It is the experts’ prerogative to go as far as removing microwaves, cars and televisions; anything they think will impede the progress of the families, as they attempt to lose the most combined weight.
With the combined weight of each family topping 50 stone, this is no mean feat. Until now they have avoided the scales like the plague, but now they will have to face the dreaded weigh-in to determine their target weight loss as well as being introduced to entertaining, innovative and at times confrontational devices to overturn 20 years of bad habits.
Over six months, each families progress is monitored via monthly weigh-ins, where each family gets to hear about how well they are doing compared to the others.
No member of the family wants to let the others down, and forfeit the chance to win the holiday of their dreams, a two week beach and safari luxury break in Africa provided by Cosmos
how am i meant to fit work in around all this reality TV .............im scared to go to the fridge in case i miss something............good for the diet though.....................is fat families weekly ?
Yes, it is. There wasn't much on last night other than introductions and how much they weigh - which I'm sure will be repeated incessantly, if not it's on the website (I think its www.itv.com/fatfamilies but I might be wrong)
It's still going, I'm sure. I recorded this week's on Sky Plus and it automatically puts in the following week's programme, but wouldn't do if it wasn't scheduled to be on (it's rather clever like that!).
You're right YP, I eat my words (no cals in that at least ) and I've checked on my SkyPlus planner and both programmes are no longer there (told you it was clever ). I was actually enjoying both those progs, and because they were on before 9, it meant my daughter could watch them with us too, as any reality programme after 9 is just full of swearing.
Oh well, back to US Wife Swop.
Who says I watch too much reality tv???? Off to catch up with Big Brother
