Default Big and doing it!

Doing it? Losing weight that is Good caught your attention? LOL

I am newly on the weight loss bandwagon myself... AGAIN! Yep, I did it all before - probably every diet there is too! This time I decided this is it!

I went to the doctor 2 weeks ago for a check up when low and behold the scale covered it's eyes and muttered "280 lbs".. Imagine my surprise and the thought of "OMG when did this happen" comes to mind... Last time I checked I was considerably less. Needless to say this was more than depressing! I've talked to my doctor and I told her Weight Watchers just wasn't for me, so she suggested I'd try Phentermine for a while.

I sat down and debated how to approach this the best way, after all I was the Poster girl for trying diets. So I decided time for Plan B - "Eat what ya want just make sure it's healthy and you don't eat too much of it".

Armed with my pills, I went and bought tons of fruits and veggies (my big downfall on Atkins - I couldn't have enough fruits!) and started my pills the following morning. It's Day 12 on my Phentermine, I have no side effects, dropped 13 pounds and my pants are losing quite a bit!

I have no set diet, I eat what I want really but since I love fruit, it is usually my number one choice. Anyways - I wrote half a novel and if you're still awake by now - I applaud you

Mel

PS: If you would love to be my buddy and kick me in the behind in my lazy days - please let me know! Thanks!

Oh my god I think I have found my long lost twin. I have been on a weight rollercoaster for about 15 1/2 years . I have tried every diet out there . Had alot of success and always managed to put it all back on.
I am now eating 5 times a day as healthy as possible and going to curves 3 times a week, walking on treadmill 3 times a week. However it has only been 2 weeks. Right now I'm on it but that could change so easily. I am 37, married with 3 kids and I weigh 263 right now (lost 6 lbs in two weeks so far).

NY! NY! I live about 60 miles outside of NYC in a lil ole town called Goshen. I got married last October to my very gorgeous hubby whom I've met online 5 years ago. My daughters are now 11, 13 and almost 16. I decided to give myself a Valentines Present 11 years ago and had my tubes tied LOL I just didn't want anymore kids after that.

I try to walk 30 minutes every day. I have a dog and a Bike trail behind the house so usually that works out nicely. If the weather is icky, I hit the treadmill for 30 minutes. Try doing that with the cell phone on one ear LOL The time just flies by!

The pills I am taking were prescribed by my doctor. She gave me Adipex also known as Phentermine 37.5 mg. - I take it once a day when I wake up and it curbs my appetite all day long. Sometimes so much that I have to remind myself to eat throughout the day and instead of the junk I ate before, now I just eat fruit and yogurt and healthier things.

My big claim to fame - I can walk by a candy aisle and go "ewwwww" LOL The phentermine curbs my entire desire for food or sweets for that matter. I still drink plenty of coffee (hey one addiction at a time!) but it's now decaf.

You are brave. I can't leave my house without coffee . Starbucks was my best friend. I can't do decaf. For some reason it makes me feel sick .

I eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks. My snacks are always a fruit & yogurt (I don't like change much).

My father's family is from upstate ny. He had 8 brother and sisters so we really could be related .

Goood Morning Sunshine! Another fantastic day to lose a pound! LOL Now if the weather would only be nicer and not so dreary I'd may actually leave the house and walk... buttttt looks like it's treadmill abuse day

If decaf makes you sick try perhaps half regular - half decaf and see if that works. The less caffeine the better. For me it always slowed down my weightloss so a while back i switched to decaf and diet caffeine free soda. I am not a big soda drinker and have maybe 2 cans a week but those are diet caffeine free nonetheless.

When it comes to eating... I TRY to eat 5 times a day although the Phentermine I am taking is an appetite suppressant and sometimes I forget. When I do eat I usually eat:

Breakfast: Pear
Lunch: Banana or Yogurt
Mid afternoon Snack: Kiwi or some fruit
Dinner: whatever is for dinner, I just have a childs portion of it
After dinner: If I remember or when I feel like it - a cereal bowl with cut up fresh strawberries and cool whip lite.

Lunch and Breakfast really depends on what I feel like. They have this Woman's Nutrion Vanilla Cinnamon Oatmeal I love that I have occassionally with Fat free Milk instead of the Breakfast fruit. It really depends on my mood

Your turn! Where you from? What ya do when you don't try to get in shape?

Morning Chickie -

I live in sunny California. I work but have a very cushy job that I have ALOT of flexability with . I am in sales.

I don't drink soda at all but I do like flavored water sometimes. I need my caffeine . That is the one thing I will not give up. There are some nights when the baby keeps me up and some nights when I have insomnia but all in all I tend not to sleep a whole lot so I need all the help I can get .

Now on the exercise... I took yesterday off (my usual day off) and now today is Mothers day and I'm going to see my mom so I don't know if I will be doing it or not (notice how I did'nt say I won't have time - I could do it I just may not ). I'm trying to learn to not beat myself up if I don't do it.

My menu goes like this...

breakfast: cereal with skim milk
snack: fruit
lunch: sandwich on whole wheat and these organic blue corn chips or a healthy choice frozen meal
snack: yogurt
dinner: chicken, baked potato with nonfat sour cream and a vegetable.

sometimes for an extra treat I have a piece of bubble gum (I love it)

I look like I'm eating way to much compared to you. Are you sure you are getting enough calories? You don't want to lose muscle.

I hope to hear from you soon

Default Happy Mothers Day!

I have the very cushy job as well. I work from home for a company in Boston and run a Chat Community. So I can safely say my Social Life resembles that of a Rock offline LOL

I didn't exercise yesterday either. I am still getting over a very bad cold that hit me the middle of this week and I am still coughing and wheezing and sniffling, so I don't want to put too much strain on my body. But today I think I am up to it. I am over the Dizziness that came with my cold and can function pretty much now.

I know it looks like I don't eat alot but you know, some days I eat more than others. When my body needs it, it let's me know... all the appetite suppressants in the world aren't gonna stop it LOL

In addition I take a Multi vitamin a day to make sure I get what I need. I should probably eat more protein however. I need to check what's low in fat and calories but high in protein... any ideas?

Have you ever tried any of the protein bars out now. Some are pretty good. I think they would be good for you because you don't really get hungry. If you could eat one with a fruit in the morning that would be good. I'm not sure about the fat in them though you will have to look at different brands.

So your picture. You are so pretty girl!! Keep up the good work and good luck on your exercise today.

I'll talk/type you later.

Default Love this site!!!

Hi there Fireefly!!

Thanks for telling me about this site!!! I love it!! Will spend hours looking it over!
I didn't realize HOW much weight I had lost since last year...seeing it on the ticker made it REAL to me...I just kept saying, "Wow! I lost that much?"

I think this forum may give me the KICK in the behind that I need, since I dont really eat alot...but I have NO exercise in my life. I own a treadmill, flex-ball, kick-boxing bag & videos, all kinds of goodies for working out...and they do look good sitting in my home

I hope that someone can help me get the desire to get up and GO !

Anyhows, thanks for showing me this site! I plan on using it daily now!

Ahhh glad to be here

I may have to seriously think about buying a new treadmill, this one is so old, the speed is stuck on like 5mph & starting off at that speed kills me
And I need a headset so we can talk while I'm on the treadmill, I have to keep hold of the bars, or off the back I go...

Ok, I'm going to find something to do here, since the hubby is off for vacation. Maybe I can talk him into going for a walk around the lake or something. I so need to get some exercise into my life...I turned 40 yesterday, as you well know, and losing the weight isnt getting any easier.

OK so I actually DID my treadmill last night.... n/m the fact that it was 11 pm LOL but I said I was going to and so I walked 1.4 miles in 30 minutes while watching Friends. I might just have to keep doing that - set a time and watch a 30 minute sitcom LOL!
