Cool New Texan

Hi all

My name is Cassandra and I'm a youngster, 19. I am 5'5 and weigh about 210 lbs. I guess I should say a little about my fitness history:

As a child I was at a normal weight but then right before puberty I started getting lazy and eating a lot of junk food and started gaining weight and as a teen (I guess I'm still a teen, lol) I got really overweight. When I was 15 I weighed 190 lbs and realized that was ridiculous and started excersizing and walking and eating super healthy and got down to 140 over the next year and a half. Denise Austin and Tae Bo and TamiLee Webb video's and walking really helped me. And I admit, I snuck some diet pills in there sometimes too, which I really regret now b/c they had ephedrine. Anyway, then I let myself go and now I'm back up to 210. I am very sedentary and I live in college dorms and do a lot of sitting on my computer and in class. Along with that I eat a lot of unhealthy "college student" junk food.

I've been trying to take the stairs more often and not eating as badly but it's really hard. I bought a "Denise Austin: Power Zone: The Ultimate Metabolism Boosting Workout w/ fitness band" and hoping that gets me started losing weight. I also joined the "Presidents Challenge" to log my physical activity. THen I did a search for fitness forums and found this At first I thought it was a joke but totally wrong. This is really cool.

So I guess I'm hoping to find a weightloss buddy just to keep in touch with and keep each other motivated and all that jazz. I've never done anything like this before so I hope this intro wasn't too long

Thumbs up

Hi Cassandra!! I give you a lot of credit for getting on those excercise videos - that is my major downfall - exercise - although I'm doing better this time than I did last time (just started Weight Watchers for the second time, last time was about 2 years ago). I really hope you do well and lose all the weight you want to - I've just lost my first 6+ lbs. this time around and I'm really proud of myself!!! Good luck - drop me a line any time!!

Your intro wasn't too long, I enjoy hearing about people!!!

I am always looking for a new buddy. I am new here and can be reached at [email protected] if you would like to be buddies. I want to lose as much weight as possible by June 9. Then work towards my goal of 125.

It was started by the PCPFS (President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports) to help encourage Americans to get more active and healthy.

"The President's Challenge is a program that encourages all Americans to make being active part of their everyday lives. No matter what your activity and fitness level, the President's Challenge can help motivate you to improve." -from the website

And for my age range (18-64) and my lifestyle goal (mine is Active Lifestyle), my goal is to do atleast 30 minutes of activity for five days for atleast 6 of 8 weeks. Everyday you log your activity on the site (it's free registration too!) and then 1 peice of your star is filled (there are eight stars, with five peices in each). After you reach your goal you get a Presidential Award I really like participating in this because it's an easy way to log my activity and it's rewarding (the award itself and the potential weightloss). It's very motivating to me.

Then after you reach your goal you move up to the next stage and try to reach that goal of activity. It's a great way to remember to stay active, especially if you're forgetful like me, hehe. I have a link to it on my desktop so I won't forget
