Angry only lost 4 pounds in Phase I

I only lost 4 pounds in Phase I! I lost them all in the first 4 days. I haven't lost anything in 1-1/2 weeks. Has anyone else had this experience? My brother lost 19 pound in Phase I and he cheated regularly. I'm afraid it'll slow down even more in Phase II as I reintorduce carbs. Yeah I get that it's better to go down then up, but phase I was so hard with such a tiny reward, I'm getting the "why bothers". Any advice?

Never ever compare your rate of loss to that of a guy! They lose much faster than we do - and it is NOT fair!
Hang in there for another week before you give in to the why bothers.

Are you eating tons of veggies? My weight loss didn't really start until I kicked in the veggies big time. I eat sliced cucumbers and peppers for my snacks during the day. Salad with lots of different veggies in it (not just lettuce and tomato! )
Oh, and beans. I eat white beans with some ham in them a couple times a week for lunch. And I stopped eating the mock reese cup every night!!! That was a major yummy! After all that, my weight loss started. Hang in there and don't ever compare you to a man. DH has also lost 9 lbs but he cheats like a big dog. They can do that, we can't. Isn't it good to be a girl? Keep it up, you can DO THIS!!!!!

Do hang in there! I only lost 4 pounds in phase 1 and I'm down quite a bit now.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the support. When I was on weight watchers, I gained weight. It was very embarrassing. I know I have a super slow metabolism. I'd be the last survivor in a famine for sure. I am a regular exerciser, drinks tons of water and eat vedges. I'm doing everything right, just not losing weight the way I'd like.

I'm going to try to change my attitude. This can't be a weight loss goal-oriented diet for me. If I set a goal and can't obtain it, I'll only get frustrated and quit. I've decided that this food plan has to become a healthy new way of life for me. And what little weight I do lose will be a bonus. The real prize is a healthier body. My skin looks better then ever. That puffiness in my face has disappeared and that roll of fat that hangs over the waistline of my jeans is almost gone. Things are happening, I just need to change my expectations.

So, thanks again for all the support. It's comforting to know you are out there.

Laura - try taking your measurements! This woman I chat with lost 2 pounds, and 17.5 inches, she was super suprised about how little weight she ended up losing after losing so many inches. Perhaps something like that happened? Keep at 'er, slow and steady wins the race!

AMEN, sistah!!!

That's EXACTLY it!!!

With 44 pounds to lose, you have lost 10% of your weight. That's pretty darn impressive! Don't compare yourself to others...that will only set you up to feel badly. And remember that there are a lot of skinny unhealthy people. Your goal, it sounds like, and mine, too, is to be healthy. Skinny can come when it wants...but healthy comes first. YGG!

Default Similar problem...

I loaned my book to my aunt and sent her a lot of recipes from this site b/c she doesn't have internet access. (I think I told you guys about this earlier.) However, she has had the same problem and only lost 1 pound or 2 in the first week. I will tell her to measure herself and stick with it for a little while. She did say that she has not had any indigestion since she started, which is a BIG accomplishment for her since she has suffered from stomach problems for a long time.

So, if you think of any thing else that might help her, please let me know. Also, she is in her 50's and has been successful on Weight Watchers before, but wanted to try SB since my husband and I were successful with it.

Thanks for all of your support and I appreciate you ladies always being here.

It is funny...when I think about cheating, I think...now what would the ladies on 3fc say???? I dissapoint myself and you guys when I do give in occassionally, but at least I am eating healthier and maintaining my weight. As long as I stay in my size 8's, I am A-OK!!!!

Thanks for making me take responsibility for the food I put in my mouth!!!

Hang in there. I only lost a few pounds in Phase 1 also. I lost 2 inches off my waist and my hips though...I also was frustrated until I took out my tape measure! I stepped up my exercise now because I am stuck at 175! Clothes are fitting better though so hang in there!

The same happened to me!
I only lost 4lbs in Phase 1, I have been in phase 2 for 1-1/2 weeks, I am still the same weight. I was away this weekend, had great food, a couple of drinks really enjoyed myself and guess what! No weight gain. This is a first..
I am not discouraged. It will come, just stay on program. I go to curves 3x a week and eat right.

Everyone here is so supportive. I try to visit at least once a day. Hang in there!

Hang in there... I did the same with Phase 1. The rest will come off. Just don't give up. Everything will work out.

I didn't lose any on phase 1 and was getting discouraged. But I felt better, slept better for it. I don't think I loss because I was already eating in a similar way to SBD prior to going on this program. I've doubled up on the veggies and I'm easing into phase 2 by adding oatmeal once or twice a week and more fruit.

I hope I do lose, but I feel so much better and I'm sleeping better. To me that's worth the diet. I thought I was an insomiac prior to this.

Thumbs up

I agree with everyone. Hang in and don't compare yourself with anyone else. Do a self check....I found not only do my clothes fit better, I am feeling great..not tired at the end of the day.
