Smile Another one bites the dust...

I'm another chick that is ready to get back on the horse and lose this weight! I'm 29 years old and married in Texas. I have been overweight most of my life but lost 80 pounds in my early twenties, got married and gained it back plus. Currently, I am 5'4 and weighing in at 250. I carry most of my weight on my stomach and chest. I guess I'm classified as an apple shape. Well, I'm ready to get serious but I think it would help me if I could find a buddy. We can encourage each other. This is my first trip to this website and I am very excited! I've been trying to decide between ww and calorie counting. I would love to hear your tips and/or ideas!

Default Searching for a weightloss buddy

Well, I just found this website so I'm new to how things work. I would really like a buddy that is fighting this battle too. I'm seriously considering doing Weight Watchers. How long were you on WW the first time? Did you think it was easy to stick with? Did you go to the meetings? Have you started back yet? It sounds like you are off to a wonderful start! From 299 to 227!!!! That is a great accomplishment! I am looking forward to this. I'm going to start counting my points tomorrow. Maybe we can check back in with each other later this week to see how things are going. Let me know what you think?

Default hello ingrid

your welcome to join . I 'm not the one started this board but i'm sure the more join in the better . so for today i'm right on the mark with my diet . night eatting my worse time .but i feel strong today .i know i can make it .i think i'm gonna start by sending in a good recipe
I love this recipe that I got from a WW forum years ago.....and it is sooo EASY!! Non-weight watchers love it too!

Baked Potato Soup - 4 points

2 large baking potatoes - about 1 1/2 lbs
1/3 cup all purpose flour
4 cups skim milk
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 ounces light processed cheese, cubed - like Velveeta Light
1/2 cup fat -free sour cream

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Bake potatoes at 400 degrees for 1 hour or until done; let cool slightly. Cut each potato in half lengthwise, scoop out pulp. Discard shells.

3. Place flour in a large saucepan. Gradually add milk, stirring with a whisk until blended. Add potato pulp, pepper and salt; cook over medium heat until thick and bubbly, stirring frequently. Add cheese, stirring until cheese melts. Remove from heat; stir in sour cream.

Makes 6 servings (serving size: 1-1/2 cups) 4 points/serving

Make-Ahead Tip. Bake potatoes a day or two in advance and remove pulp. Store pulp in an airtight container in refrigerator. With the baked potato pulp ready to go, this soup only takes a few minutes to prepare.

Note: If you prefer your potato "loaded", top this soup with sliced green onions and cooked, crumbled turkey bacon or bacon bits.

ENJOY!!!

I would love it if anyone good any good tips or recipes to share .i think boredom is the first thing to going off your diet so lets keep it interesting

Welcome everyone! I'm excited to log on and see so many messages. Well, let me just say I was bad today. I had a granola bar at breakfast, salad at lunch then for dinner my Husband and I ate mexican (my favorite). Well, I haven't "offically" started WW yet but I plan to join next week. My Husband and some other friends are going to camp out for NASCAR this weekend so I figure I might as well try to be good but offically start next week. I really want to join on Saturday. I am also going to start walking. Actually, I thought I would take my dog out for 15 or 20 minutes tonight. Thanks FoxyLady for the recipe! It sounds very good and quick too. I'm very sorry to hear about your Father. I lost mine when I was fourteen. It is never easy losing someone you love. Remember the Lord has a plan for us all and don't be afraid to ask him to comfort your heart. He is awesome!!! I'm excited... I think this is going to be a great group. Just think of all the support we can give each other. I'm going to try to check in as often as I can. Atleast once a week to give you all my weigh in and let you know how I'm doing. I'm also going to share recipes and hopefully by the end of summer we can share some before and after photos! Ya'll have a great night... and happy calorie counting! )

We arent going to let this thread slip thru the cracks!
I have been working and its hard to get here. I hope everyone has been doing well.
Me? Not so well... I hate myself sometimes... I try sooo hard and then BAM! One day I just eat. I know I have a set meal plan, but its like my mind goes blank.
But... I come out of it and go back to eating healthy.
I am going tomorrow and buying a full length mirror to hang on my bathroom door. Thats where I dress everyday and I am hoping that if I see the way I look everyday that will help.
Its Friday now and I am hoping I wont slurge over the weekend.

Hey - been over at the South Beach board and almost forgot about here!

LostInTx - do you have a diet plan, or are you just trying to do this on your own. You should research the ones on the home page here and see what fits with your lifestyle. I know I can't do WW, the counting points drives me crazy. I also have to have snack food that is ON PLAN and good for me!!! Hang in there! That's why wer are here - to support each other
