Smile Weight loss challenged!

Hello everyone! I am 36 yrs old, and along with my wonderful husband have embarked on a 55 lb. weight loss challenge. We have opted to lower our daily caloric intake, are keeping food journals, and exercising. I have gained this weight in a very short amount of time due to this wonderful disease I have called Crohn's.

The disease is a double edged sword for me. My entire life I was overweight, and when I turned 25, I started getting sick, and lost 100 lbs in 4 mos. I knew something was wrong, but the Dr's kept saying I was fine. So...woohoo!!! I was skinny, and loving it. Little did I know that this disease was killing me. About 6 yrs ago I found the Dr. that saved my life, and as of February 2005 (and 7 surgeries later) I have been in remission for 1 yr.

The problem is, I (we) have packed on the pounds...big time! I was so happy to be able to eat again, that I ate too much. Portion control is a huge problem with both my husband and I, but we are working on it together.

I would love to Buddy Up with someone, and share the troubles of losing weight, and give support. We have set a goal of 12 wks to lose the weight.

I can't wait to start meeting some of you folks!!!!

Welcome to the board!

I wish good luck to you (and your husband) to lose the pounds. I hope that the disease will let you do this, too!

Thanks for the welcome Kerry! This bulletin board and web site are 2 of the best I have come across. Seems to me that everyone here is so supportive of one another. It's just what I need.
Thanks again!!

Hehe, to be honest, I go to this site every time I'm on the comp and feel like snacking on something... It's a bit hard to give in to the craving after you've read encouraging posts/articles here for a few minutes (Well okay, it may not be the ideal mean, but the important thing is that it works, hehe.)

new here to, holly you are lucky to have a husband that is in this with you. Mine thinks he can eat and drink anything he wants cause he does not put on much weight. He is not real sensative to my struggles and gives me h$ll about my weight. I would like to start a group of us newer gals that might support each other through our cravings let me know if you want in

Thanks evreyone. I'm hoping to have some time this weekend to look around at the board. I am all for joining a newbie group, or any other group where I can give/receive support through this whole weight loss ordeal. <sigh>

I'm actually impressed with myself, I have done so well so far this week. It's only been a few days, but my husband and I are HUGE food network fans and love to cook the recipes that we see from the shows. Paula Deen's country cookin' is going to be soooooooooooo missed in our house.

Thanks again everyone. I really do look forward to chatting with all of you!!!
