Default Christmas Eve Eve?

That's what we always called "Christmas Adam!"

Thanks for noticing I was back, Thin...I was beginning to get a complex!

To answer your questions: Thanks! FIL is doing very well, health much better, though he might give you an argument there! Yes! Very busy! Today is my daughter's birthday...I have to get busy cooking the dinner she had requested. December va-kays DO screw up the schedule! I'm working Christmas Eve, then off the weekend. Off tonight too. Last chance to scurry around and tie up all those loose ends!

Hey, Chris! Best Buy in Merced, California has Playstation 2! Grandma and Grandpa just bought one for my son! To add to the collection: Nintendo Game Cube, Sega, numerous Game Boys. He is a true "vid kid." I know it's too late now, but what about buying online? I did most of my shopping via the internet this year...so relaxing!

But no relaxing today...I have to get over to CostCo, of all places. That should be fun. I came home to get my card, and somehow the computer called to me!

Take a deep breath, everyone...it's almost here! Let's not stress ourselves out so much that we can't enjoy what's truly special about the season...spending time with family and friends, creating new Christmas memories.

Have fun!

PS...Happy Birthday, Lisa!

Thanks kat, that is great to remember!
i expect this to be a special Xmas in our new home in a new state! although dd and dgd that we left in Ca don't agree. It will be sad to not have them here, but couldn't happen this time.
My baking is done, cards are sent and packages wrapped! i have never been so ahead of the game!
DD and dgd from Washington will be here soon, and I hope dgd will help put the gingerbread house together. I've never done one, and this is a kit. I thought it will be fun for the great grandkids.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!

and a :merry: to all of you!

I am sorry ... but I have to GRIPE !!!! I have to cry !!!!
I have to SCREAM !!!!

They overbooked my daughters flight and we don't know if she will even get home !!!!! I am sooooooo mad I could spit nails. GRRRRRRRrrrrrr
Why does the airlines do that. I know they say because some people don't show up... so what !!! They have their money already. Tell people they can wait at the airport in hopes of getting a cancelled seat or a no show. But don't sell them a seat a month ago and then today say ... "Oh sorry... we are over booked now. You may not get a seat afterall." EEEeekk !!!! My daughter had a ticket bought months ago. Then paid EXTRA a month ago to switch to this flight. PAID EXTRA and now they say no seat available!!! OH I AM SOOOOO MAD !!!!

It is sooo hard to stay positive and upbeat when talking to her stranded in that airport.
She doesn't need to hear me about to cry because of this stupid airline. She needs a positive upbeat encouraging voice to give her hope for a solution. I will be that person for her.... but then all of you have to listen to me RAGE !!!!!!

Okay... I think I have calmed down now. LOL
We will just make the best of whatever happens.
We will appreciate life .... even when it sucks.
We will send good vibes into the universe. : LOL
Thanks for listening. If you could ... send out some good vibes for my daughter. Thanks

Oh dear, 2Cute - I hope your daughter makes it home safe, sound and quickly!

We are having a difficult time with Christmas cheer today. This morning Jeff woke up feeling horrible so we took him back to the Dr. He developed a hematoma (sp?) from the biopsy. Basically a build up of blood. He's in great pain and so uncomfortable. I know he feels bad because he didn't get to buy me any Christmas gifts, but I don't care! That's not what it's about. He gave me a wonderful gift going through this surgery a 2nd time for our future. I'm going to suggest to him that we open gifts from our family and then we celebrate our own Christmas when he feels better - maybe on New Year's.

I'm happy to say that for those of you participating in the card exchange --- I got the cards in the mail today! Yay! Better late than never!

I am so tired, it's been a long, emotional day and I capped it off with 2 big margaritas --- didn't need them, but they hit the spot and now I am going to dream land!

Night Friends!

2cute: Ack, I can imagine how frustrating that can be. As far as I know, there are a ton of airplane delays and cancellations now with this winter storm heading down from Canada (We even got a mini-blizzard here in West Texas). When I was flying out of Vegas, nearly every Southwest flight was delayed; massively annoying. Here's hoping your daughter makes it home soon and safely, though

BarbPA: The hematoma sounds like it would be painful. What does the doc recommend your husband do to alleviate the pain? Is surgical drainage/excisement an option?

Thumbs down bah humbug

Well .. here I am 6 hours later and my daughter is in her car now ...driving back to her house. What a roller coaster ride we have been on.
First they tell her she does not have a seat because they overbooked.
Then she waits in lines for HOURS to finally get a seat assigned to her.
Then they say that the flight is delayed... for HOURS
Then the plane arrives but the crew walks off the plane. they said they have been working too many hours and can't not continue flying due to the delays. Grrrr . Then the airline says they are hunting for another crew. Lets everyone stand and wait for a couple more hours. Now they have totally CANCELLED the flight. GRRRRRRR

My daughter gets in MORE LINES to try and find another flight. I get on the phone and my other daughter gets online.
It will be 2 more days before she can get out... and that is not a guarantee. Who knows what could happen between now and then.
Plus... that takes 2.5 days off of our brief visit. She cannot get a plane out until LATE CHRISTMAS DAY !!! She took off work Thursday to get here early.

She is being a real trooper. She is focusing on the fact that it could be much worse. Her immediate family have their health. (We have 2 relatives with cancer.) She is focusing on the fact she has a home to wait in... some people have to sleep in the airport for 2 days. She is focusing on the fact that even though it will be a short visit now.. she still gets to come home for 2 days. And she is coming home for a fun visit... not for a funeral.

I have always taught my kids to find the postive.... it is nice to see that she learned it. I put a message in the high school yearbook her senior year that is what I try to live by and hope my kids do too. Here it is...

Happiness is not found by getting everything you want...
Happiness is found by appreciating everything you have."

Sometimes in the midst of big disappointment I temporiarly forget that... but I always end up remembering it. I am sooo happy my daughter remembers it too. I am sooo proud of her. I told her it was okay to have a good cry.
She just called... I gotta go.
-------------
Well I am back. She stopped at a motel. There was a 10 car pile up on the highway she would have to take to get back to her home and it is 2am and bitter cold outside. I feel much better knowing she is safe and sound and warm. I did not want her driving all the way home in snow at 2am.

I gotta go again. Just wanted to update you and thank you for listening.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's travelling woes, 2cute! Talk about the Nightmare Before Christmas. I hope she gets home safely and soon!

I've been sorting gifts, piling things up under the tree. I've been wrapping the gingerbreads and the pumpkin bread that I made yesterday. I'm bagging pistachio nuts to bring to all the girls at work. There is SO much candy and cookies and goodies to be had over there, on every floor...I thought that pistachios would be a nice change from all the sweetness! Sometimes I'll get them coffee, this year it was nuts. Seems appropriate, given all the nuts over there! Present company included. I have "It's a Wonderful Life" playing as I do my thing here. My favorite Christmas movie. Not a bad way to spend the night before the night before Christmas!

A bunch of my daughter's friends came over tonight for her birthday. They were chattering away in the living room, so I couldn't get to the tree earlier. No one around now...so I've been getting a lot done. I'd be awake if I was at work anyway, so why not get it all done now?

That question should be: Why not get it all done in November?

Time's up...back to work!
Merry Christmas Eve!

Hi all, just a quickie as the hubby is yelling at me that we have things to do. Today we are leaving on our trip to Alabama. We drive to Metropolis IL today and then the rest of the way to Montgomery tomorrow. I will try to check in over the next week but there is no guarantee of that.

Kat, Thanks for the reminder of what this holiday is all about.

2Cute, I am sorry about your daughter, but she will get there when she does, and she will be safe. Better than flying on a plane with sleepy pilots. I know you will appreciate all the time you do get to spend with her. Your love for her shows through all of your posts.

I will miss all of you but I must go, he is yelling at me.

Love you all,

Have a safe and happy Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Skitt

kat: I know what you mean about getting the tree and stuff done in November; that's actually how my family usually does it. They wait until I get home for Thanksgiving, then spring the guilt-loaded trap of how I need to do it because my parents are too old and worn out to. Works every year; however, this year, we're not actually going to be here Christmas Day (we have a holiday family get-together in Houston), so this is the first year we haven't put up a tree...it feels strange and a bit empty somehow.

I've actually never seen "It's a Wonderful Life". I keep meaning to every year, but I'm always distracted

Skittles: Safe travels to you, too. There's actually a city called Metropolis? I always figured it was something made up for the Superman comics
