Default Is anybody here right now?

Hi,
It's been awhile since I posted, but things have been wonderful since my surgery for the most part. But I am panicking right now and am not sure what to do, I've been having stomach pain since about lunch time and don't know if I should go to the Dr. or not. I didn't eat very much at all today, especially because i had a tummy ache at lunch. It felt like gas pain but does it ever last this long? It's been about 6 hours or something. It kind of comes in waves and I can hear my stomach gurgling. My husband got me some GasX just in case and I took it about 15-20 minutes ago, but I'm still in pain. Should I go to the emergency room? I had the surgery on June 30, could something go seriously wrong even at this later stage?
Let me know what you think!

Yes!!!

Go to the ER or at least call your doctor Ole Alvin had in surgery in April (of 2002)and had similar pain in August 2002. He had a very serious complication and even if what you have is not a big thing, it needs to be checked out and as soon as possible!

Bes,

Barb is right. At the very least, I hope you called your weight loss surgeon to ask about the symptoms.

How are you today? Update, please!

Thinking about you and hoping you are well.

Default I'm okay!

Hi guys,
Sorry I didn't post earlier!! I did get ahold of my surgeon and he just said that tummies are strange and it's hard to know why they hurt sometimes, so if I was doubled over in pain and it just won't go away (which is what was happening!) then go to the emergency room. I decided I should go so I went and shaved my legs but then it finally started to feel better so I didn't go after all. It was the weirdest thing, I have no idea why it was hurting like that.

I think I'm kinda extra paranoid because I had pancreatitis (or something like it, my surgeon still isn't quite sure that's what it was) after the surgery, and then I had a kidney stone in August and thought I was dying!!! So I was panicked, like "what could it be this time???" But I've been okay, so I think it was just something weird...

I don't regret the surgery one bit though, it was the best thing I could have done. I was so terrified and worried about it, I think I really prepared myself for all the bad things that could happen so I just take things as they come and overall, it's been a much better experience than I expected. I've lost 80 pounds and the health issues I was having are resolved! It's not been easy, but it's also not been as hard as I thought. I feel so much more healthy and normal than I did before the surgery. I finally feel like a normal functioning human being. (Except when I get strange pains, ha ha!)

Anyway, thanks everyone for your concern and caring, I appreciate it so much! I hope all of you are doing well and feeling healthy and happy.

Thanks again
BES

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

Well it's been two month yesterday sence my surgery. I've gone from 257 to 210. I'm excited because I leave friday to see my family in Michigan. My Mom and Dad don't know that I have had the surgery. I have one major consern. Almost every day i get sick during or after I eat. I'm not sure if I'm eating food that is two spice for me, or if I'm not chewing well enough or If I'm eating two fast, or if something is wrong. I haven't been eating protien drinks. I can't get eggs to go down. I've been living on chicken and I hate chicken. I did manage to eat polish sausage and bush bean the other day and it stayed down. I don't want my mon to get worried. can anyone suggest what I should do?

oh cathy - somehow i missed your post... and i do apologize... how did the visit go??? i'm with nancy grace on that one..

and as for the 'everything not sitting well' problem. ummm. there's no delicate way to say this, so i'll just go ahead and put it out there: i threw up at least once a day for 6 weeks, starting around week 4. my surgeon said that some people just have what he called 'twitchy tummies.' but he also said that it'll be like a light switch - it'll just pretty much stop, unless i do something stupid like not chewing enough, or eating too much, or whatever other stupid thing i can come up with.

now, having said that, did you know that some of us can't tolerate chicken? it was more than a year before i could eat it. but i could eat beef!!!! it's just a matter of trial and error. and one of the best things you can do for yourself is to keep trying different foods. if something doesn't work - try it again in a few weeks. don't PERMANENTLY cross it off your list.

the first few months are the hardest, but THEY WILL END... keep up the GREAT work.

and nancy grace- it's nice to meet you - so glad you stopped lurking!!!!!

i saw that you are going to see dr kuri... good choice.. don't stop posting!!!

Thank you for you responce. I actually was very suprised when I got the surgery date of JUNE 10th. I feel soo optomistic (sp). I was really nervous the night before when I thought about how much I was changing my life. But the change is soo necessary. Dr. Kurin said I was a good candidate for GBP and there was concern that my insurance would not pay for the lap band. I agreed to the GBP. When I got home I called the insiurance company and fould out that they would cover the lap band and supporting medical 100%. When I get the description of coverage I will submitt them to Dr. Kurin. (who is georgous in person by the way). I was really comfortable with her and her staff was very accomidating.

P.S. I cannot tell you how happy I was to find a chair that made me feel normal. Or not have to suffer the humiliation of waiting for a DR to find a blood pressure cuff that fits.

P.P.S I have not told my boyfriend of the past too many years of this decision. He does not agree with the need for me to have this done. so I thank very one who reads or responds to my postings
I will keep you up to date and thank you for the support.
